Pop-up Event Day 1 is wrapped up!
We're really grateful to everyone who came out today.
We were so happy to meet so many of you in person, both those who have been using the Hobonichi Techo for years, and those who picked it up for the very first time this year.

[Techo Meet-up!]

We held two Techo Meet-ups with users, one last weekend and one the weekend before!

Everyone shared their techo pages on the spot and chatted away. Time flew by before we knew it.

It was such a joy to meet so many friends. We talked about everyone's unique stories with their Hobonichi Techos. I really hope we'll have more chances to meet even more of you in the future!

Today, September 2, is the final day of the niko and ... event.
To everyone who came by-thank you so much!

[手帳ミーティング！]

先週末とその前の週末とで2回、
ユーザーのみなさんと
手帳ミーティングをおこないました！
手帳のページをその場で見せあっておしゃべりし、
あっという間に時間がすぎていました。

たくさんの方とお会いできて
本当にうれしかったです。
みなさんそれぞれの「ほぼ日手帳」との物語を
たくさん聞かせてもらいました。
これからも、もっと多くの方と
お会いできる機会があればいいなと思います。

Hey everyone, take a look at this intricately crafted Weeks page by Angie.
With artistic talent and a touch of innovation, she’s transformed the weekly pages of the Weeks into her very own original journal.

On the left-hand side, she records her daily routines and important tasks in each day’s section. On the right-hand side’s free space, though, things get really creative with her use of tapes and stickers.

By layering a frame over a photo, she’s made a kind of window. Open it up, and you’ll find even more stickers and a different set of tasks she’s working on. Go one layer deeper, and there’s a postcard filled with memories and fun photos, turning a single spread into three pages’ worth of discoveries.

こちらの手帳、ぜひお見せしたいと思って、ご紹介します。
Angieさんのweeksのページ、
とってもこまやかに構成されています。

センスのよさと、ちょっとした工夫によって、
weeksの週間ページが
Angieさんならではの手帳に生まれ変わっていますね。

左側のページには、毎日のルーティンや
大事なタスクが各曜日ごとに
丁寧に記録されています。
そして、右側のフリースペースには、
テープやステッカーを使った
クリエイティブなアレンジが全開！

写真の上にフレームを重ねて「窓」のようにしたり、
めくると中からまた別のステッカーやタスクが出てきたり。
さらにもう1枚めくると、
思い出の詰まったポストカードや楽しい写真が登場。
たった1つの見開きのページが、
3ページ分の驚きが詰めこまれています。

Hey everyone, not every day is perfect.
Not every day is amazing.
Some days, you don’t want to walk 10,000 steps.
Some days you don’t want to cook.
Some days you’d rather just stay in bed.
But hey, you know what? That’s totally fine. Happy nothing special day.

Not every kick in a game of football is a goal.
Not every swing of the bat is a home-run.
And that’s one of the things that makes life so wonderful.
All the minutiae that goes into these big events is what makes life so worth living.

This page, decorated with a bold collage by Marissa, is a perfect example.
Even on a day she was stuck in bed, she put together a collage using cut-out paper letters and stickers that reads: “in bed all day.”

If ever you find some space building up in your techo, how about trying something like Marissa?


[世界の手帳から（カナダ）]

毎日が完璧な日とは限りません。
毎日がすごく特別な日ってわけでもないですよね。
1万歩も歩きたくない日だってあるし、
料理なんてしたくない日もある。
ずっとベッドにいたい日だって、あります。

でも、それでいいんです。
なんでもない日、おめでとう。

サッカーだって、蹴るたびに
ゴールが決まるわけじゃないし、
野球だって、バットを振れば
毎回ホームランになるわけじゃない。
でも、だからこそ、
人生っておもしろいんですよね。
大きなできごとのかげに隠れてしまうような、
なんでもないようなことが、
人生を豊かにしてくれるんです。

このページは、Marissaさんによる
大胆なコラージュで飾られています。
その日は一日中ベッドにいたそうなのですが、
紙で切り抜いた文字やステッカーを使って
"in bed all day（まる一日ベッドのなか）"
というコラージュを作ったんです。

手帳に空白ができちゃったときは、
こんなふうに、Marissaさんみたいに
気軽にページを遊んでみるのもいいかもしれません。

Are there any Weeks users out there that sometimes struggle thinking about how to fill in each day?

Here is an example of Marie’s Weeks from Sweden. She’s been using the Weeks now for several years as a game journal. It seems that in the Summer of 2024, she was getting stuck into Pikmin 4!

She said “Since I started studying again a few years ago, I don't have much time to draw anymore. But the Weeks is so handy, and it allows me to draw a few small drawings every day, which makes me so happy!”

It’s great that she’s found a way to continue drawing using the weeks, and just look at them! Look at how detailed the Emperor Bulblax is and how cute those little Pikmin are... That red pikmin clumsily falling over is so endearing! The colours are also vivid thanks to the tools she used and the quality of the Tomie River paper.
It’s bringing back so many memories of when I played Pikmin 4 too.

I love this idea, I bet looking back and remembering all those fun memories of gaming make for nice breaks between studying too.

weeksユーザーのみなさんは、
どうしたら毎日ページを埋められるのか、
悩んだりしませんか？

スウェーデンのMarieさんの
weeksの使い方をご紹介します。
Marieさんはここ数年、weeksを
「ゲーム日記」として使っているそうです。
2024年の夏は『ピクミン4』に夢中だったみたいですよ！

「数年前にまた勉強を始めてから、
なかなか絵を描く時間が取れなくなったんです。
でも、weeksは手軽に使えるし、
毎日ちょっとずつ絵が描けるから、うれしい！」
と話してくれました。

勉強で忙しくても、weeksがあるから
絵を描き続けられるっていいですよね。
どうです、このすばらしいファンアート！
エンペラー・ブルブラックスの描き込みもすごいし、
小さなピクミンたちはもう、かわいさ全開。
赤ピクミンが転んでビターッとなってるのとか、
たまらないですね。

色もとても鮮やかで、使っている画材の良さと、
トモエリバーの紙質の効果がしっかり出ています。
ぼくも『ピクミン4』を遊んだときの思い出が
よみがえってきました。

ゲームで遊んだときのワクワク感を振り返れるのって、
きっと勉強の合間のリフレッシュにもなってるんでしょうね。
とても魅力的な使い方だと思います！

I’d like to introduce Lara’s use of the Cousin’s daily pages.

“This is what my usual day in the Hobonichi Techo looks like: at the top, I track my steps, time I spent on my phone and how I was feeling; in the left column, I track everyday habits, such as writing in my journal, meditating and studying spanish, as well as my tasks for the day under that. I use the rest of the page to journal about my day, noting the time, my location, and what music I'm listening to at the top. With whatever space I have left, I paste in ephemera from the day or stickers that I have been collecting.”

I was taken a back by the great detail and care that went into her tracking of various things. I especially liked that among the neat and sophisticated logging, she uses a small face emoji to denote how she’s feeling. I’ve attempted tracking my happiness for a long period of time using numbers, but I must say these faces seem to convey so much more than my numbers.

By using a highlighter she’s created her own layout for the page, which allows her to maintain the nice structure, creating sections for to-do lists, habits whilst still giving her ample room to fill out her diary.

Thank you for sharing Lara! This type of structuring seems like it wouldn’t take too much time, so I’d like to try it out in my Cousin too.

Laraさんのカズンの1日1ページをご紹介します。

「これが私のほぼ日手帳のいつもの書きかたです。
ページの上部には、歩数、スマホを使った時間、
その日の気分を記録しています。
左側の列では、日記を書く、瞑想する、
スペイン語を勉強するなど、
毎日の習慣をトラッキングしていて、
その下にその日のタスクを書きだしています。
残りのスペースは、その日の出来事を日記として書いていて、
時間、場所、そのときに聴いている音楽などもメモ。
余ったスペースには、その日に手に入れたものや、
集めているシールを貼ったりしています。」

いろんな項目を丁寧に、
しかもきちんと記録していて、本当に驚きました。
特にぼくが気に入ったのは、
整然とまとめられたフォーマットのなかで、
小さな顔の絵文字でその日の気分を表しているところ。
ぼくも前に、けっこう長いこと
気分を数値で記録してみたことがあるのですが、
絵文字のほうがずっと感情が伝わってくる気がします。

Laraさんは、マーカーを使ってページに
自分だけのレイアウトを作っていて、
ToDoリストや習慣トラッカーのスペースを分けながらも、
しっかり日記を書く余白も確保されています。

Laraさん、すばらしい使い方をシェアしてくれてありがとう！
この方法なら、時間もそれほどかからなさそうなので、
ぼくもも自分のカズンでぜひ試してみたいです。

Next up is a feature from Japan. Let me introduce Myojira's 5-Year Techo.

She captures quiet, everyday moments with her family, accompanied by charming, soft illustrations.

What really stood out to me was the round, simple drawing style, paired with her honest, down-to-earth reflections.

The drawings are quite simple, but she still makes sure to distinguish between the different people, including herself. By the time she sits down at the end of the day to fill in her diary, she's already taking a step back and viewing the day a little more objectively.

The 5-Year Techo lets you compare "this day" across the past few years—last year, the year before, and further back. There's always a bit of distance between who you were then and who you are now, and that's part of what makes looking back the years so interesting.
But with Myojira's diary, she's already condensed each entry into a small reflection at the time of writing, which makes it especially easy and enjoyable to read.

She also adds little candid comments like:
"Mapo tofu was so spicy!" or "I'm so jealous of that sake brewery tour!"
They're casual, but you can feel the emotion in them.

It really seems like she came up with this method as a way to continue journaling in a light, manageable way, even with a busy schedule.
And honestly, it's such a great idea.


[世界の手帳から（日本）]

続いては、日本から。
みょじらさんの5年手帳をご紹介します。

家族との何気ない生活のひとコマを、
かわいらしいイラストとともに記録しています。

なるほどなぁと思ったのは、
やっぱりこのコロンとした絵柄と、
飾らないことばで書かれた感想。
かなり簡略化されてはいるものの、
自分もふくめてイラストを描きわけることで、
一日を終えて日記をつける時点で、
できごとをちょっと客観視しているんですよね。

5年手帳は、去年、おととし、数年前の
「この日」を一覧できるフォーマットです。
昔の自分は、今の自分からは一定の距離があって、
だからこそ読み比べるおもしろさがあります。

その点でいうと、みょじらさんの手帳は、
書いたときにすでにコンパクトに振り返っているから、
とっても読みやすい。

さらに、「まーぼー辛かったー！」
「酒蔵めぐり うらやましーい」
といったすなおな気持ちが添えてあって、
さりげないんだけど、
実感がこもっているんです。

きっと、お忙しい毎日を過ごすなかで
手軽に日記を続けるために、
あみだした方法なんだろうなと思います。
とてもいいアイデアですよね。

Hello again, this time I’m bringing you an example of a techo from Thailand.
This is Pannita’s example of how she uses her Cousin’s weekly schedule.

“I didn't use the timeline in the weekly pages, but I use it for weekly tasks, a habit tracker, daily tasks, a food log, an expense log, and a daily memo. I also placed stickers on top of important dates to mark them.”
In the bottom left of the spread it seems like she’s logging 12 different habits. Above which, she has been logging what she needs to do this week. I especially like her food log.
I’ve recently started a diet myself, so I’ve been wondering how best to maintain it and wanted ideas.
That’s when I came across Pannita’s techo.
I’m impressed with how much granularity you measure what you’ve consumed, even going as far as jotting down the ml of coffee you drank. That’s really cool!

I also think your expense tracking is concise and easy to understand. It seems you’ve turned your techo into an indispensable tool and treasure. I bet it’ll be really cool when you look back and see all these records after many years.

今度はタイのPannitaさんが
カズンの週間ページを
どう使っているかご紹介します。

「週間ページのタイムラインは使わずに、
週のタスクや習慣の記録、
毎日のタスク、食べたものの記録、
家計簿、日々のメモとして活用しています。
大切な日付にはシールを貼って
目印にしています。」

ページの左下を見てみると、
どうやら12個もの習慣を
ハビットトラッカーで記録しているみたいです。
その上には、
その週にやることの記録もあるみたい。

特に食事ログがいいなと思いました。
個人的に最近ダイエットを始めたのですが、
どうやって続けるといいのかな、と
アイディアがほしかったときに
このPannitaさんの手帳です。
細かいところまで
何を摂取したかを記録していて
感心しました。
コーヒーを何ml飲んだかまで記録していて、すごい！

出費ログもすっきりとわかりやすくていいですね。
手帳をとても大事に、
なくてはならない宝物のように
使ってくださっているのが伝わってきました。
何年かあとにみるととてもいい記録になりそうです。

Hey, how is everyone finding their Hobonichi Day so far?
I'm having a great time still debating what to buy...

I’m a huge dog fan, my family has always had a dog since before I was born, so I grew up with a lot of furry friends.
That’s why I just had to share this wonderful techo idea by Geet from the US.

She’s been using her Hobonichi Techo as a ‘dog journal’.
You can see that it radiates a warm love for her big puppy.
And my! Aren't they the cutest!?
I bet that they give the best cuddles!

The techo is beautifully decorated, with the pages matching the cover with their white and red motif.
She’s even managed to find some red wearing dog stickers, which are a nice touch!

みなさん、「Hobonichi Day」を
いかがお過ごしでしょうか。
ぼくは、けっこういい感じです。
まだ何を買うかは決めきれていないですが…。

私は大の犬好きで、生まれる前から
ずっと家には犬がいました。
たくさんのモフモフのなかまたちと
いっしょに育ったんです。
なので、アメリカのGeetさんの手帳を、
ぜひシェアしたいと思いました。

彼女はほぼ日手帳を
「犬日記」として使っていて、
ページからは、大きなワンちゃんへの
深い愛情が伝わってきます。
ほーんと、かわいいですよね！
ハグしたらきっと最高に気持ちよさそう。

赤と白のデコレーションも気が利いていて、
手帳のカバーとぴったりマッチしているんです。
よく見ると、赤い服を着た
わんちゃんのシールまで貼っていて、
そのこだわりがたまりません！
