Here is a report of the money received through 2017 Hobonichi Techo donations.
In the 2017 Hobonichi Techo lineup, we released the Polar Bear cover in collaboration with Kazuo Mochizuki.
A portion of Polar Bear cover sales was donated to the Rencontrer Mignon Institute animal shelter. On October 31 2017, we made a donation totaling 6 million yen (approximately $53,000 USD).
The donation will be used for a number of projects and initiatives.
・Medical care for 200 animals in their care
・Overhead costs for the shelter
・Consumables and food expenses
Thank you to everyone who helped make this donation.
We’ve received the following comment from Rencontrer Mignon representative Ryoko Tomomori for everyone who has donated to the shelter through their cover purchases:
Thank you to everyone who bought a Polar Bear cover by Kazuo Mochizuki. Our goal is to decrease the number of animals that end up in shelters, yet the animals we save are only growing in number. Your generosity helped us defray the rising costs of shelter overhead, as well as medical expenses for the shelter animals. In an ideal world, there would be no need for animal shelters, and pet owners would never abandon their pets. But the number of animals getting euthanized is decreasing, so let’s not give up hope, and keep hanging on.
Rencontrer Mignon is still accepting donations. You can also provide remaining needed supplies through Amazon.jp. Please see here for more information. (Japanese only)

In the current 2018 Hobonichi Techo lineup, we are donating proceeds of sales from the Michio Hoshino covers to Rencontrer Mignon. This includes Harp Seal Pup (A6 size) and Grizzly Mother and Cubs (A5 size). These donations will help fund the care of Rencontrer Mignon shelter animals. Thank you in advance for your support.
