World Folk Patterns OtomiA6
Every year, our lineup includes a cover in the popular “World Folk Patterns” series, which features motifs from all over the world. This year’s design comes to us from Masako Kusakabe of the Taku Satoh Design Office, a firm headed by the designer of the Hobonichi Techo. The cover is modeled after designs used by the Otomi tribe, a dwindling native population in Mexico known for their beautiful embroidered patterns. The supernatural imagery of plants and animals evoke an Otomi mythology that’s been passed across generations, illustrated here in turquoise sillouhettes over a white background for a crisp, refreshing look. The design is accented by a bright yellow interior and gray pen holders, giving this cute cover a mature flair that should appeal to users of all ages.
*Modeling photographs may show covers in a slightly different tint, so please use product-only photos as a reference to the true color.

Please Read
In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
- All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but as these products are hand-made, covers are not made as exact copies.
- Using Cover on Cover
The PVC plastic of the Cover on Cover may lose elasticity and become difficult to put on when left in cold temperatures. If this happens, we recommend letting the product sit in a warm area before applying to your cover. Please be careful when handling your Cover on Cover in cold temperatures, as it becomes more susceptible to damages if dropped or handled roughly.
- Print material characteristics
The polyester material used in print covers involve printing a design over white material, so the sewing process may expose white areas around the stitches. Please note that on rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the print, but this is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
- Outer pocket patterns
The outer pocket is designed to align with the pattern beneath it, but pattern alignments may be imperfect due to the manual production process.

- Color darkness may vary
This cover is printed onto white polyester material, which makes it difficult to ensure the exact same color across the entire product. We pay extra-careful attention during assembly to ensure this does not happen, but please note it’s possible to find slight differences in the color.

- Bookmark threads may be white
The two bookmarks were originally white and have been dyed, so stitching may expose an inner white portion where the dye did not reach.

- Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder
Hobonichi Techo covers come with pen holders that keep the pages shut. Depending on the material of the cover, pens with rubber grips may be difficult to slide into the holder.
- Maximum pen width for pen holder
The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53”) in diameter.
- Water-resistant surfaces of covers
Covers have undergone processing for water resistance to reduce smudges and water stains, but this effect gradually wears off over time.
- Cleaning a dirty cover
If you feel the surface of your cover has become dirty, we recommend dabbing the cover with a clean cloth dampened with diluted neutral detergent. Please do not use any kind of dryer on the material, as it may shrink, and air-dry it indoors or in the shade.
