    DokonokoWeeks Hardcover Book

This cover is based on the original Hobonichi smartphone app Dokonoko, which was designed for viewing and posting pictures of pets and animals.

These Dokonoko icons were drawn by illustrator Ayumi Ohashi, who drew a great number of illustrations of dogs and cats for the Dokonoko app in addition to these icons. The lively little drawings are so cute, they made their way onto a cover because we want to carry these little critters everywhere.

The cats and dogs scattered across the cover have all kinds of expressive faces to cheer you up just by carefully looking through them all. The cover is almost like a public square where all the animals come to gather, much like the app the design was created for.

The design is printed onto a texture material reminiscent of a canvas, carefully reproducing the touches of the original pencil lines. The balance of humorous illustrations and calming color scheme makes for a neat book. The Dokonoko logo incorporated into the illustration is also drawn by Ohashi.

    About the Dokonoko App:

In Dokonoko, you can connect with pets around the world by uploading pictures of your pets and animals you meet to the online collection of cute expressions and silly poses. It’s fun to look through all the photos, and feels almost as happy as being in a room filled with cats and dogs.

The app features a local area function that allows you to get to know cats and dogs in your neighborhood. It’s almost like making new friends! This function is also very helpful if you ever lose your pet, as it provides a way to instantly alert nearby users.

The best part of Dokonoko is that you don’t have to be a pet owner to use it; users are welcome to post pictures of cats and dogs they meet, as well as artwork, crafts, and other specifically animal-related pictures.

Test fountain pens before regular use

The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.

    Cover corners are slightly bumpy

The corners of the cover contain light traces of press marks and lumps. This is an unavoidable part of the manufacturing process.

Color may vary slightly based on viewing screen

The color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.
