Now that the 2017 Hobonichi Techo cover lineup preview has been announced, have you decided on a cover yet?
Today we’ll introduce the items that will be available by lottery sale and when to apply. Please submit your entry during the sale period for a chance to purchase this cover.
As it has been in past years, we’ll be offering the minä perhonen - piece, cover and Henry Cuir covers by lottery sale due to the strictly limited nature of the cover material and the process of making the covers by hand. This year’s lottery sales will be open for entry from September 1–15, 2016 (Japan time).
We’ll also be offering the tote bag by graphic designer Taku Satoh, which uses the same leather material as the TS2017 - Black Domopack cover. Manufacture-to-order sales will be open for entry from September 1–12,2016 (Japan time).
Please take note of these deadlines if entering the lottery sales for these products. (Example: North America is one day behind Japan, so a September 15 deadline would be September 14 in North America.)

These meticulously-constructed minä perhonen patchwork covers use textile pieces left over from the creation of various minä perhonen apparel and accessories. The fabrics come in up to 11 different styles per cover, with every piece a very different material, thickness, texture and design. This variety of soft textiles makes an incredibly interesting yet comforting cover. This year is the first time we’re offering the piece, A6 cover in three different color combinations.

The Henry Cuir collaboration covers have been a part of the Hobonichi Techo lineup since 2009. The leather has been vegetable-tanned by hand to allow the color and luster to deepen over years of use. The covers have also been assembled by hand. This year’s Henry Cuir covers use soft, textured, top quality cowhide leather, and the deep green Verde Militare color option is new to this year’s lineup.

This genuine leather tote bag is designed in collaboration with graphic designer Taku Satoh. The leather matches this year’s TS2017 / Black Domopack cover. Black Domopack uses top quality leather with a thin coat with silver foil that has been sanded down for an uneven and expressive look. The bag’s concept came from a casual remark by Taku Satoh while exploring leather selections for the Black Domopack cover. He mused that it would be nice to have a tote bag made with that same leather, which brought about the bag and its simple design to showcase the full charm of the leather. Because the bag is made using a great deal of precious, top-quality leather, this product is available through manufacture-to-order sales.
