[Moomin Shop Osaka!]

Starting today, five Moomin Shops across Japan (Ginza, Futako-Tamagawa, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Osaka) are carrying the Hobonichi Techo 2026!

They also sent us some photos from the Osaka shop! Moomin sitting cutely behind Little My’s Stappo is just adorable.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the publication of the first Moomin novel! Limited-edition 80th anniversary items are also on sale and proving very popular.

You’ll find plenty of Moomin products to enjoy, including stickers and stamps that are perfect for decorating your techo♪

[Visiting Umeda Loft in Osaka!]

At Umeda Loft in Osaka, sales of the Hobonichi Techo 2026 began today as soon as the store opened.

The Hobonichi Techo section was brimming with beautifully displayed covers and stationery, and bustling with customers.

あのね、日英併記のテキスト中継だというのに
伝わりづらいことを言いますとね。

が座っているこのイスは
「肝がすわる椅子」なのです。
背もたれが漢字の「肝」になっていて、
何事にも動じずに座っていられます。
生活のたのしみ展で展示をしていた、
ミチルさん考案の椅子です。

冗談みたいなアイデアの椅子に
何食わぬ顔で座っているしおりは、
ほんとに肝がすわっていました。

[Shiori’s settling her nerves]

So, we’ve been posting these updates in both English and Japanese, right?
Well, here’s one that’s nearly impossible to translate.

Shiori is “steeling her nerves”* in the nerve-steeling chair.
Look at that strong posture—nothing could shake her right now.

This chair was created by Michiru for the “Joy of Life” exhibition.

There’s something perfect about Shiori sitting so casually in what’s basically a novelty chair... she really does look like her nerves are unshakable.

Liam's note: *In Japanese there’s a phrase similar to “having nerves of steel,” but literally it means “for your guts to sit/steady.” The pun here is that the chair’s backrest is shaped like the kanji 肝 (kimo, “guts”), which appears in that phrase. So yes… it’s one big visual pun.

組み合わせに悩んでいるは、
今度はおおきいサイズのひきだしポーチに、
おおきいサイズのA5サイズHONを
組み合わせてみました。

はい、十分すっぽり入ります！
シールや文具もたっぷり入るようです。

そこに取り出したのは、
持ち運びや収納にちょっと困っていた
おおきめのマウス。

『これも一緒に持ち運べると
たすかるんですよ‥‥』
『いけるかな、どうかな』
と迷いながら入れてみたら‥‥。

入った！
が、少しポーチの形がぼこっとなりました。

会社内でつかう道具は、
できる限りひとつにまとめたいあさこ。

ひとつにまとまらない収納だったら、
ずっと使い続けられるか自信がないあさこ。

そんなは収納力を重視し、
今年は、このおおきいひきだしポーチと、
おおきいHONの組み合わせを選びました！

[The Ice Cream and Picture Book Pairing That My Heart Is Drawn To...]

(Asako), who was torn over the pairing, tried combining the large Drawer Pouch with the large A5-size HON this time.

Yes, it fits perfectly!
There’s still plenty of room for stickers and stationery, too.

Next, she pulled out a bigger mouse that she had always found tricky to carry or store.

"If I could carry this together, that would be really helpful..."
"Will it fit? Maybe, maybe not."
She tried slipping it in...

It fit!
Although the pouch bulged a little in shape.

likes to keep all the tools she uses at work together in one place.
If her storage can’t be consolidated, she isn’t sure she can keep using it.

So this year, with storage capacity as her priority, chose the Large Drawer Pouch with the Large HON!

[Moomin Shop in Ginza]

The Hobonichi Techo 2026 is also available at the Moomin Shop, which embodies the charm of the beloved Nordic brand Moomin, known for its storytelling and art!

A whole pastel-green table is covered with Moomin Hobonichi Techo books and stationery!
We’ve been receiving lots of inquiries even before release day, and we’re so happy to finally share them with you.

We also heard that Mary’s Chocolate has delivered their limited-edition Halloween chocolates for this year. You’ll find plenty to enjoy alongside the techo, like stickers and stamps perfect for decoration, as well as a wide range of Moomin goods.

千葉ロフトにやってきました！
お店オープンの10時から、
たくさんの方がほぼ日手帳を求めに
来てくださっていたそうです。
人気はやはり、たまごっちだとか。

今年も、手帳とおそろいで
たくさんの文具が登場していますが、
陳列がとっても綺麗で見やすいのが、
さすがロフトさんです。

「2005→2025 LoFt No.1」の
赤い風船もかわいいです。

20年かぁ… No. 1かぁ…
しみじみ、すごいなぁと、じーんとします。

This is Komata, reporting from Chiba Loft.

It seems that a lot of Hobonichi fans have eagerly came to make their 2026 lineup purchases since the shop opened at 10am, with Tamagotchi being very popular.

Even though there's so many covers and related stationery this year, Loft have worked their magic and made the whole display very easy to see.

The red balloon with '2005->2025 Loft No.1' written on it is also super cute and a nice touch.

20 years... at No.1...
That's sort of... amazing, isn't it? I'm stunned...

Loft, and all of those using the Hobonichi techo, thank you so much!

[The Store is Buzzing!]

Everyone gathered here today made a reservation in advance.
Thank you so much!

When we said we’d take a photo, many people turned to the camera with big smiles.
Seeing this scene every year always makes me so happy.

ほぼ日手帳2026の各発表会の会場では、
ステッカーを配布していました。
今年は4種類！

ペーパーウェイトのロボットを
デザインしてくれた、
大山功一さんのドット絵のイラストです。

やっぱり、シールをもらうと
手帳に貼りたくなりますよねー。
前に自分が使っていた手帳を持ってきました。
あった、ステッカー！

おととしは、フェルト作家の
Sleepy Sheepさんのくま、
去年は、わかるさんが描いてくれた
うさぎのイラスト。
ほら、「HAPPY HOBONICHI DAY!」の
サインを持ってくれています。
この年から、テキスト中継のタイトルでもある
#HappyHobonichiDay のフレーズを
使いはじめたんですよね。

こうして並べてみると、どれも個性的で、
手帳のページがパッとかわいくなります。

今年のドット絵のステッカーは、
海外の一部の発表会・イベント会場では
配布をしていません。
また、いずれの会場でもなくなり次第、
終了となるので、
ご承知おきくださいね。


[Stickers!]

At each Hobonichi Techo 2026 Reveal Event venue, we handed out special stickers.
There are four designs this year.

The pixel art illustrations were created by Kouichi Ooyama, the same designer behind the beloved robot paperweight.

There's just something about getting a sticker that makes you want to stick it right into your techo, isn't there?
We even brought along an old techo to look back—look, there they are!

Two years ago, it was a bear designed by felt artist Sleepy Sheep.
Last year, it was an adorable bunny illustration by Wakaru.
If you look closely, the bunny is holding a little sign that says “HAPPY HOBONICHI DAY!”

That was the year we started using the phrase #HappyHobonichiDay as the title for our live text coverage.

Lined up like this, you can really see how each sticker has its own unique personality.
They add such a fun and charming touch to your techo pages.

Please note that this year's pixel art stickers are not being distributed at some of the reveal events abroad.
Also, they're available only while supplies last, no matter which venue you attend.

お会計の混雑状況が解消されたことで
仮想待合室が見えなくなりました。
さきほどご案内したばかりなのに‥‥！

いろんなものを持ってきてくれた
ほぼ日のくまもがんばってくれました。
コーヒー、ケーキ、はちみつ、盆栽、
石ころを持ってきちゃうこともありました。
ありがとう、くまよ。
またいつかの販売で会えるかな。

[Bye bye bear]

We prepared a virtual waiting room for when the store checkout got too busy, but the we've made it over the peak, so there likely won't be any use of it anymore... even though I just introduced it!

In the virtual waiting room, the Hobonichi Not-Scary Bear was working hard bringing all kinds of treats and goods to the patiently waiting customers.
Things like: cakes, coffee, honey, bonsai and even stones that they've taken a liking too.

Thanks for all the hard work Bear!

Will you help again if we need you?

リアムは、A6のHONを2種類の
タイ＆チーフで迷っているみたいです。
HONもタイ＆チーフの手帳も
使ったことはないそうで、興味深々。
1つは、チョッパーのヒルルクの桜。
どうしてこれに？

「ONE PIECE好きだから」

たしかに、今年も手帳本体は
ONE PIECE特別版を使っているもんね。
じゃあ、in the forestは？

「え、かわいいから。ふつうに」


weeksは、うってかわって暖色系の
シンプルな2冊が候補です。

ファインクラシックのワインブラウンと、
スムースのミルクココア。

「なんかね、カバンにいつも
適当に入れちゃうから、
丈夫そうなやつがいいなって」
そう言いながら表面をなでて、
硬さと手ざわりを確かめていました。

こっちは、実用的な理由で選んでいるけど、
なかなか、お目が高いですね。

ファインクラシックは、
革張りで少しざらざら、
スムースは、その名の通り
するするした素材。
さわった感触はだいぶちがうけれども、
たしかにつくりはしっかりしているし、
持ってみるどちらも手によくなじむ、
いい手帳ですよ。


[Liam's still undecided here as well]

Liam is currently deciding between two A6 HON from the Bow & Tie series.
He's never used a HON or a Bow & Tie techo before, so he's especially curious this time.

One of his options is the Hiriluk's Cherry Blossoms featuring Chopper.
Why that one?

"Because I love One Piece," he said without hesitation.

Makes sense, he's using the One Piece Edition for his techo this year too.

So, what about in the forest?

"Oh, that one? It's just cute. That's all."

For his weeks, he's leaning toward two simple and warm-toned options: Fine Classic Wine Brown and Smooth Milk Cocoa.

"I tend to just toss my techo into my bag, so I want something that feels sturdy," he said, running his fingers across the covers, checking their texture and firmness.

This time, his picks are based on practical needs. But I have to say, he's got a good eye.

The Fine Classic is leather-covered with a lightly textured feel. Smooth, as the name suggests, has a soft, sleek surface.
They're completely different to the touch, but both are well-made and sit comfortably in your hands. No matter which he chooses, he's getting a great techo.
