A global pop icon and a driving force behind Japan’s “kawaii” culture, Hello Kitty has been loved across generations and borders. Now, Hello Kitty and the Hobonichi Techo have come together for a special collaboration.
This cover, Techo and Friends, is inspired by the “Hello Kitty Classic” design that has been popular since Hello Kitty’s debut in the 1970s. Set against a red base that matches the trademark ribbon on her left ear, the pattern has a slightly retro feel reminiscent of wrapping paper.
Hello Kitty frames her face with a techo, reads it, holds it in her hands to peek out, or balances it on her head. These adorable poses of Kitty playing with the techo are exclusive to the Hobonichi Techo.
Surrounded by her favorite things like bows, apples, tulips, milk, and tea, Kitty is also joined by her friends, including Kingyo-san and Joey. This lively design embodies Sanrio’s heartfelt message to the world: “Minna Nakayoku” (Getting Along Together).
The cover interior, the “butterfly-stopper” pen holders, and bookmark ribbons are a refreshing light blue. On the right-hand card pocket, you will find Kitty balancing a techo on her head, while the Kitty on the left-hand pocket peeks out at you. We've included these playful touches so that Kitty will always meet your eyes the moment you open your techo.

Along with the Picnic A5 size Hobonichi Pencil Board, which perfectly matches the Techo and Friends cover, the Hello Kitty series features a variety of stationery and accessories you can use alongside your techo. See the full Hello Kitty series here.

If you’ve used any of these products, we welcome your notes on what you like about them or what led you to buy them so we can share it with customers who are currently considering these products. We’d also love to welcome comments from customers who purchased their techo outside the Hobonichi Store or received their book as a gift.
We’ve compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Additionally, the color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.
Due to the structure of the cover that opens flat 180 degrees, exterior stitching areas may appear puckered and lining material may be loose.
The pen holder is designed to fit the 12.2 mm (0.48") diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free Hobonichi Store Exclusive Bonus. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53") in diameter.
The cover's color and print pattern are created by dyeing or printing onto white fabric. While we take care to ensure consistency during production, slight variations in color or pattern may occur between individual items. This may also happen across a single cover, such as a pocket compared to the rest of the cover. Minor print blurring or uneven coloring may also be present. In addition, on rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the print. This is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
