HOBONICHI TECHO 2018

Mitsuhiko SasaoMy Favorite TableA5 Size (fits Cousin)

Painter Mitsuhiko Sasao is famous for the prominence of vivid red colors in his artwork, and this cover allows you to carry his art wherever you go.

Printed across this cover is the Sasao piece entitled “My Favorite Table.” A table is surrounded by a hedge of bright red roses, and atop the table is a collection of Sasao’s favorite items. This piece was originally released in 2000 as a series of four canvases with the picture continued across them to complete an enormous painting of 130.5 cm (4.28 ft) tall and 648 cm (21.26 ft) wide. At the time of the initial art show, Sasao placed benches in front of the hanging paintings to allow visitors the chance to immerse themselves in his favorite things.

The print on this cover features the right-hand portion of the original painting. There are flowers in an Evian water bottle, a cute coffee set, and a berry tart. At the edge of the table are works of art by some of Sasao’s favorite painters, such as Matisse, Picasso, and Rousseau.

The print on this cover actually continues on into the inside of the large pocket to allow you to enjoy the rest of the painting.

The bookmarks are the same blue as pictured in Matisse’s art, and the charms are red.

Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances

Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.

Design may contain smudges or uneven coloring

During the print process, patterns may contain spots where the color has become smudged or uneven.

White spots around stitching

The design is printed over white material, so the sewing process may expose white areas around the stitches.

Black or white dots on the cover

On rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the cover. This is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.

Color may vary slightly between cover and pockets

The material for each part of the cover is printed or dyed separately. While colors are designed to be consistent across the entire cover, the shade may vary slightly.

Interior of cover may be loose

The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy.

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy as a result of sewing together materials of various thicknesses.

Pen holders are rigid at first

The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.

Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder

Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.

Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder

The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Japanese-version Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53”) in diameter.

“Cover Only” price change

Due to an increase in material costs and other unavoidable factors, starting with the 2017-edition, it has become difficult to maintain the usual price of our Colors and Faux Fabric covers. In order to maintain the price of the covers, we will be offering these covers at the usual price when bought as a set with the Hobonichi Techo book. We apologize for the trouble, but when ordering the cover without a book, we will not be able to keep that price, so Cover Only orders will cost slightly more. Please add to your cart as a “Book & Cover set” to keep the cover’s lower price.

Color may vary slightly based on viewing screen

The color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.

Avoid using with Cover on Cover

This cover uses thicker materials than usual, so it may not fit. Forcing it into a Cover on Cover may damage the products.
