HOBONICHI TECHO 2018

LOTTERY SALEWEB SHOP ONLY

piece, (spring mix)A5 Size (fits Cousin)

minä perhonen creates all-original textiles that are specially dyed, embroidered and woven to recreate designs that were originally hand-drawn. "piece," patchwork covers are made with all the leftover pieces of textiles saved when creating clothing and handbags so they don't go to waste.

This “spring mix” cover includes 12 different designs in its patchwork construction, each with unique embroidered or woven material, and several featuring images of spring, such as flowers and butterflies. The patchwork is very pleasing with its many squares of varying texture, thickness, and even age.
The pink-beige cow leather cover interior and pen holders are accented with two dotted lace bookmarks.

Each fabric patch is cut from a different spot in the original textile and sewn into the patchwork by hand, giving every cover an entirely unique look.
Due to the limited nature of the textile leftovers used in the patchwork, this cover is available through lottery sale. For more information, please see the About Lottery Sales section below.

1. tambourine (2000-01 Autumn / Winter)
Freehand-drawn circles are embroidered in dots that protrude from the fabric in this minä perhonen classic.

2. jungle relief (2008-09 Autumn / Winter)
This highly-detailed embroidered textile is packed with jungle animals.

3. land puzzle (2016-17 Autumn / Winter)
Corduroy ridges form various patterns, with shadows and 3D effects making it look like a scene you’re looking down on from the sky.

4. giardino (2016-17 Autumn / Winter)
giardino is Italian for “garden.” The embroidered flowers appear to be dancing as they bloom.

5. petal flame (2017-18 Autumn / Winter)
This embroidery combines the motif of fire with flowers, and features an imaginary small village where both fire and flowers were cherished as precious treasures.

6. chum (2010-11 Autumn / Winter)
This embroidered textile is all about chums, or friends. The dotted flowers sticking out from the material seem to be tilting their heads in a friendly gesture.

7. oksa (2017-18 Autumn / Winter)
Oksa means “twig” in Finnish. With the rounded buds and straight twigs, it almost looks as if there are flames glowing at the edges of the branches.

8. hana hane (2012-13 Autumn / Winter)
Butterflies gently fluttering across this design are accented with the interaction of contrasting colors, ink blots and smears that have all been carefully preserved from the original hand-painted art.

9. pesce (2014 Spring / Summer)
This geometric pattern features a mosaic picture of a fish, with several layers of overlapping colors to create the effect of the fish blending in with the rippling waves.

10. lake (2001 Spring / Summer)
This textile depicts a sparkling lake reflecting light like a rainbow. The beautiful ripples and sparkles of light are embroidered.

11. jardin (2017-18 Autumn / Winter)
This garden scene shows flowers blooming in the sunlight and casting shadows. Although the textile is woven, the pattern retains deep colors that make it look like an oil painting.

12. pallo (2016 Spring / Summer)
This textile has a contemporary design with circles and embroidery on four corners around each circle.

    Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances

Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.

    No outer pocket

This cover does not contain an outer pocket.

    Sharp objects may unravel threads

Threads protrude from the material, so please be careful not to catch sharp items under them as they may unravel.

Fabric may pucker around the edges of embroidery

The embroidered design on the cover is quite large, so the material may be slightly puckered, or wrinkled, around its edges.

Interior of cover may be loose

The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.

    Lace bookmarks may contain frays

The bookmarks of this cover use original mina perhonen lace straps. If you see any loose threads, we recommend refraining from pulling on it and instead tucking it between other woven threads.

    Patchwork patterns vary by cover

The textiles comprising the patchwork design differ by design and location for each cover. Please understand the random nature of the design before ordering.

Pen holders are rigid at first

The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.

Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder

Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.

Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder

The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Japanese-version Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53”) in diameter.

Inquiries about the minä perhonen collaboration covers

These Hobonichi Techo cover designs were directed by minä perhonen, but produced by Hobonichi. Inquiries about these covers cannot be answered at minä perhonen shop locations, so please contact the Hobonichi Store with any questions or concerns.

Avoid using with Cover on Cover

This cover uses thicker materials than usual, so it may not fit. Forcing it into a Cover on Cover may damage the products.

    Pattern alignment varies by cover

The exact alignment of the pattern across the cover varies by design, so your product will appear slightly differently than the product page example.

Color may vary slightly based on viewing screen

The color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy.

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy as a result of sewing together materials of various thicknesses.
