Survey Results Announcement Drawer Pouch Storage and Usage Answers Drawer Pouch Áne

The Áne debuted in December 2018 and is now our most popular Drawer Pouch. It’s the size of a long wallet, with an accordion-style opening that can fit the Hobonichi Techo Weeks. The Áne can serve as a case for all kinds of things, from checkbooks and other financial items to all the personal items you need for a doctor visit. It can replace your wallet or even act as a way to securely store smaller items in a larger bag. Many users simplify their Drawer Pouch Life by keeping their most important items neatly stored together in one place.

The inner zipper pocket is handy for storing loose change, and the outer pocket fits a smartphone very nicely. Many users told us their Áne stores everything they need on a trip out of the house.

A Look at the Life of Some
Áne Drawer Pouchers

I’ve used all kinds of cases for my maternity and children-health handbook, but I’ve never been able to store everything—medication records for my two children, my health handbook, patient registration card, and insurance card. I looked around for something better, and that’s when I found the Áne. It was everything I needed.
  • 40’s, from FranceKiyomi
I’m a yoga instructor. When I’m leaving for work, I keep all the various little items I need on hand neatly stored in a single pouch. I have my subway tickets, my cell phone charger, the hair bands I use to tie up my hair during work, lozenges and throat spray for after I’m done, simple makeup items like lipstick, a hand mirror, herbal medicine, and even spare batteries for my electronic French dictionary. My gym membership is in the outer pocket, so I can pull it out without opening up the pouch.

I limit my makeup to whatever I can store in my Áne. It’s really nice being able to just take it on trips without any extra packing.
  • 50’s, from YamagataMiwako
When I’m shopping or at the grocery store I’m no longer in a rush at the register. My membership points or payments are either handled through a card or my smartphone, and I can even fit my reusable shopping bag in here, too.
  • 20’s, from KagawaAnmocchizoni
I generally use mine as a wallet. I store cosmetics in it so I can make quick fixes to my makeup in the car. I also use it to temporarily store little things I like, like little chopstick envelopes from a restaurant, stickers from products I buy, interesting leaves I see along the sidewalk, things like that.
  • 40’s, from HyogoAki
I use the pouch as a wallet to store lots of goodies, like memo pads and stickers for my children to play with. When I go on long trips and ride the bullet train, I use the outer pockets to store my tickets. The Áne also has everything I need for the restroom, so it’s really convenient.
  • 30’s, from Ishikawanatty
Sometimes I get just a bit greedy and put a ton of stuff in my pouch, but it always accepts it without complaint. True to its name, it’s just like a reliable older sister. (I’m the oldest girl in my family, so I’ve always longed to have a big sister like that...)
  • 60’s, from TochigiTsuruko
I love how I can cram so many things in my Áne but it never looks overstuffed.
  • 30’s, from TokyoSakko
I use the Áne as an organizer for my larger bag. I use it for both work and personal items—my techo, makeup, and all my cards. Using it this way is really helpful when I want to switch bags. When I go out I’ll take my Small Drawer Pouch, too—that one stores my medicine and other little necessities. When I’m going shopping in the neighborhood, or I want to carry as little as possible, I’ll take the Small Drawer Pouch and nothing else.

When I was single, I kept my bankbook and passport and things in a pouch. I’ve since gotten married and had a child, so I bought one more to keep my maternity and children’s-health handbooks, and our medication records. When you’re already holding your baby and standing at the front desk at the doctor’s office it can be hard to pull your handbook out, but the Áne’s accordion layout makes it easy to retrieve. I can keep my ever-growing stack of patient-registration cards, from all the different clinics we visit, too. My sister-in-law is expecting her third child right now—when I saw her the other day she was having a hard time keeping her childrens’ handbooks all in one place, so I’m planning on getting her one of these as a gift.

From the Drawer
Pouch Team

We’ve heard about so many different uses for each size, but something about the Áne makes it feel like the most quintessential Drawer Pouch in the lineup—easy to dig through, big enough to store everything, the right size for day-to-day life. It’s so great to see people enjoy the Drawer Pouch in all the use-cases we were considering when we created it.

Like the Drawer Pouchers who responded to our survey, I’ve seen for myself just how useful the accordion-style pockets are for storing a maternity-health handbook. It’s perfect for temporarily storing all the scraps of daily life that catch your eye, too—the partitions make it great for organization, and being able to see everything inside at a glance means you won’t leave anything sitting in there forgotten for very long.
