Meetings continue

2024/02/26 17:15
We are going to have a meeting with someone this week, so last week's meetings were all about preparing documents and what to discuss with them. As things got more into the specifics, there were more things to check carefully. We talked about things that were bothering us and about new ideas, and before we knew it, the sky that was bright when we started the meeting turned pitch black by the time we had ended. We were all exhausted and started to say weird things, so we decided to call it a day and continue with the meeting on another day.

We met up a few days later and managed to come to a conclusion! ( and were smiley today)

We might be able to let you know how we're progressing soon, so we hope you look forward to it!

Making our ideas more concrete with the "super advisors"

2024/02/20 20:29
We recently had a meeting with product managers and who are always thinking about what kinds of products to develop and deliver to whom, and , who always has an answer for anything related to creating something: three trusty "super advisors" of the Hobonichi Techo team.

We showed these three ideas we have spent a long time thinking about.

Even if we had spent time thinking our ideas thoroughly, after hearing their opinions, there were many things that I thought I should think over or thought was a great way to show the product. I took so many notes of advice from behind the screen too.

It was a meeting where I felt that things are definitely forming into shape. We might be able to announce the first details soon!

Handwriting idea memos

2024/02/02 12:00
As we held meetings every week, the original commemorative stationery is slowly starting to come together!?
These are idea memos I write every meeting.?

I used to make them on my laptop, but I soon realized that summarizing ideas are best done by hand. I change the pen I use depending on how I'm feeling and have fun as I do it.?

This week's meeting consisted of us having fun as we checked out the samples that have arrived!?
Yesterday was when the April-start Spring lineup went on sale. and happened to be wearing very spring-like outfits, too.

What does this pose mean?

2024/01/29 13:45
Yesterday, we had our regular Thursday meeting for the commemorative stationery.

This is in a strange pose and copying it. They are trying to share their ideas about an “item” they plan to create through gestures.

We might be able to understand what this pose means later on, or maybe not.

We meet up every Thursday, and then each of us digs into what we have discussed in the previous meeting over the following week to prepare for the next meeting. Every discussion starts with us not being sure if we made the right decisions the last time and ends in a positive mood, saying, “This will work!” “It’s going to be great!.”

We hope you look forward to the details to be shared further! (Since, unfortunately, that is all we can share with you at the moment!)

Giving form to our ideas

2024/01/21 14:23
These are pictures from the meeting we had the other day.

It seems like Morikko is cutting some colored paper.

And we also see some folded and crumpled pieces of paper on Iwasawa’s techo.

They are the results of working with colored paper during the meeting to let our ideas come out.

Could these be the inspiration for the ten-million-copies-commemorative stationery? Or not?

We are going through many trials and errors but are slowly moving forward!

The first meeting in 2024.

2024/01/16 13:20
Last week, the commemorative stationery production team had our first regular meeting this year.

Since it was also the first time seeing each other after the New Year’s holidays, we all had our new techo for 2024 and enjoyed sharing them.

Annen and I had decided to use the HON book for the first time. Morikko, who uses the Weeks book every year, chose the Weeks Mega book for this year to divide the many memo pages by major projects. (By the way, I am also using two Weeks books; one for organizing my to-dos and another for stationery production meetings)

We started off in a low-key mood, perhaps because it was after the New Year’s holidays. We were not quite ready for the discussion, but as we actively shared our thoughts and ideas, we found each other saying, “That’s a great idea!” “I feel like we can make it happen!” We ended the meeting positively, and it made me realize that we can do our best with a fresh feeling this year.

We hope you look forward to our work this year!

Showing off what we got at the Stationery Girls Expo

2023/12/27 13:29
Last week, we finally released the first article for the ten-million-copies-commemorative stationery production! Woo-hoo! The webpage is currently only about the start of the production, but we will be adding new content until we complete creating the stationery. We hope you will come back to see further updates!

Now that the article is published, we shared what we got at the “Stationery Girls Expo” we visited together a few weeks ago before starting the commemorative stationery production meeting.

Although we visited the expo together, we were curious about what we bought there since we were only sometimes with each other at the venue.

Pens that allow you to write in white when writing over them, colorful memo pads, round notepads, stamps that make you want to stamp them over and over again, and more; looking at what others got makes you want to go back and buy them too, even after plenty of exploring and shopping. That is the challenging part of being a stationery addictーthere is so much fun and convenient stationery out there!

Something that we all got was “Palio stickers” with a cute and nostalgic atmosphere but in different designs! We decided to share a little bit with each other, and this made me feel so happy.

We want to create stationery that our users can enjoy having and sharing. Time to set our wits to work!

Making something exciting.

2023/12/19 10:35
Hi, I’m Mori and I’m working with Iwasawa and Annen on original commemorative stationery.

I’m usually in charge of the design and things for the Tools & Toys Report. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I only really had the stationery in my peripherals until working on the Tools & Toys Report, at which point I first actually dived deep into the world of stationery.

I still have a lot to learn, but there’s lots of stationery in the world with really creative concepts. It’s hard to decide where we’ll go as we make our own, but the first thing I want to figure out is what will get people excited. I think we’ll be able to make something very fun since I’m working with Iwasawa and Annen on the project. We’ll do our best to make something exciting for everyone.

Look forward to seeing what comes together!

The three of us will do our best!

2023/12/19 10:33
Hello, I’m Annen from the techo team. I’m overseeing the creation of the commemorative stationery.

Usually I’m planning out Hobonichi Techo original stationery items, curating products to put in our Tools & Toys stationery/accessories collection in our store, coming up with content for the Tools & Toys Report, and seeing through product photography. I do all kinds of things revolving around stationery products.

I’m also a member of the Hobonichi Stationery Club.

I’m the one among the three of us working on the original commemorative stationery that’s the most familiar with stationery, so I’ll do my best to lead our team through the process! (But when it comes to the Tools & Toys Report I rely entirely on these two.)

is very reliable and is a guileless idea person, so I think if the three of us work together, we’ll be able to make something extremely fun. I hope you’ll watch over us as we go through the creation process.

My first time making stationery!

2023/12/19 10:30
I’m Iwasawa, from the team of people working on an original commemorative stationery product.

We’re going to be making a brand new product to commemorate the 10 million sales of the Hobonichi Techo, and the team will include the one that runs the Tools & Toys Report on our website. When I brought up the idea to them, they were both very excited and eager to help. I truly feel that the excitement of a creator makes its way into the final product, so I could tell right there and then that we were going to be able to make something good.

I’ve made books, magazines, and websites before, but stationery is a first. I’ll be relying on lots of people to share their wisdom and abilities as we make something from scratch and share the process on this page as we go. It’s very exciting!

I want to make something that lets people enjoy the time they spend using their techo. I hope you’ll follow along on this page and cheer us on.
