It’s like a genuine book you can use without a techo cover. It’s compact and portable so you can carry it in your bag like you would a favorite book.

One page per day for plenty of room to write. You can use the book however you like. It’s the standard layout of the Hobonichi Techo, and is fun to read back through later on.

Available in both English and Japanese! There is also an English edition with the same format as the Japanese edition, but without holidays listed.

Comes in two sizes. You can choose from the compact A6 size or the A5 size with lots of space to write.

A closer look at the HON

Comes in a compact A6 size and an A5 size that allows plenty of room to write.
Uses the thin yet sturdy Tomoe River paper.
The thread-bound books have lay-flat binding that keeps the book open without needing to hold it down.
Comes in Japanese and English editions (excluding some designs)

1 Moon phase
An illustration of the current moon phase listed in Japan time.
2 Day of the year
The cumulative day of the year counting from January 1st.
3 Old Japanese lunisolar calendar
The date of the old Japanese lunisolar calendar is included under the day’s date, as well as solar terms based on this ancient calendar.
4 24-hour timetable
Each hour is labeled with a dot, and every 30-minute mark is labeled with a line.
5 3.7 mm graph paper
The graph paper scale was designed to be perfectly sized for writing, drawings, and charts.
6 Daily quote
Each page features a quote from the Hobonichi website.
7 To-do list
The to-do list has checkboxes for keeping track of your goals for the day.
8 The “Secret Line”
This is a lightly printed line that can separate a schedule on the left from the open memo space on the right.
9 12-color tab
Each month is labeled with a different colored tab on the edge of the page.
10 Mini calendar
A mini monthly calendar that outlines the dates of the current daily pages.

This is one of the basic design options for the HON. The dark navy cover almost looks black, and the diagonal slash is foil-printed in gold. The design is based on the forward-slash symbol ( / ) used when writing dates.

The Hobonichi Techo has collaborated with ONE PIECE magazine, a publication which dives deep into the world of the manga One Piece. This special edition HON is fully packed with original artwork and iconic quotes. Carefully selected lines from the comics, as well as words from creator Eiichiro Oda, are featured at the bottom of the pages. The book also includes a variety of bonus pages, including a timeline that lets you see the story at a glance and a “Wanted Poster” you can actually fill in.

Clear cover for the HON. By placing it over the cover of your book, you can keep it clean and protect it from scratches and grime. It’s a simple layout with no pockets.
Hobonichi Pencil Board HON
[for A6/A5 Size]
This clear pencil board, complete with a pen hook, is designed specifically for the HON. It is available in two sizes: A6 and A5. A 5 mm graph pattern is printed all over, and it features 1 mm markings on the long edge, alongside 0.5 mm and 1/16 inch markings on the short edge.

    Some Usage Examples

    Use for work Having a page per day for your work plans and task list allows plenty of room to write. The daily quotes can also provide a surprising source of guidance.
    Keeping up with habits The daily page layout is perfect for keeping on top of habits you’d like to keep or goals you’d like to achieve. By writing down what you’ve eaten or exercises you’ve done, you can enjoy the changes you see later on.
    Recording hobbies and lessons Write down new things you learn from your hobbies and lessons in your techo. Even if you can't write it down on the spot, writing it down later is a good way to review what you’ve learned. The key to keeping up with the techo is being able to feel that progress.
    It’s fun decorating with pictures and colors The graph paper makes it easy to both write entries and draw pictures. Including pictures makes the pages more fun and make it motivating to continue. We also recommend coming up with personal routines, like using symbols to represent the weather that day.
    Organizing thoughts and ideas If you write down thoughts that come to mind into your techo, that might make it possible to think more freely. If you’ve got something on your mind, you can take a load off your shoulders by taking the time to write it all out into your pages.
    Tracking growth The techo can be used as a parenting journal, or to track the growth of pets and plants. It’s fun to read back through the book when you’ve got entries tracking changes in appearance, or when your child learned to do something for the first time.
