Café au Lait TeddyA6 Size (fits Planner and Original)

Hobonichi has teamed up with German plush toy maker Steiff to create this teddy bear motif Hobonichi Techo cover in a traditional teddy bear color. Sold separately is a Teddy Bear Keychain specially made in a matching color so you can attach the keychain to your cover for an exclusive matching set.

Steiff teddy bears use high-quality yarn called mohair, made from the hair of the Angora goat. The exterior and pen holders are made with this mohair to give the cover the characteristic beautiful sheen and luxurious softness that you’ll want to cuddle. 2019 marks the second year in a row with a Steiff collaboration, and this year we’ve chosen for the cover a beige shade in Steiff’s lineup called Café au Lait.

This techo cover keeps the trademark button and yellow tag featured in the left ears of Steiff plush toys. The tag designates that the product has passed the maker’s strict quality standards before being imported into Japan from Germany. This product is extremely rare in bearing the trademark, as Steiff has historically reserved the distinct honor for its plush toys. As we did last year, we’ll be sending the finished products to the Steiff headquarters in Germany to have the buttons and tags attached.

The cover’s bookmarks contain brown leather charms in the shape of teddy bears.

The cover has a gold-colored metal ring at the top that allows you to attach a Teddy Bear Keychain to your cover. (*Keychain sold separately.)

The Steiff cover is delivered in a specially crafted black case. The silver-leaf engraving on the cover reads in German, “GEMEINSCHAFTSPRODUKTION VON STEIFF UND HOBONICHI,” meaning “Collaborative product of Steiff and Hobonichi.”

The Steiff edition Hobonichi Techo Planner book is also available this year. At a glance, this book may look the same as a traditional Hobonichi Techo Planner, but look closely and you’ll see the Arts&Science trademark key icon has been replaced with a Steiff bear.

You can see more about the Steiff Planner book here.

      Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

Base of cloth may be visible

The fur around the outside of the exterior is shorter, so areas folded over the edge may reveal the base cloth.

Leather may contain preexisting wrinkles and marks

In order to allow customers the enjoyment of all-natural leather, the leather is processed in a way that retains its original feel. This may leave imperfections visible on the surface of the cover,
such as wrinkles, scratches, stains, or vein marks.
Depending on the conditions in which the cover is used, natural oils of the leather may emerge and appear as stains. We ask for your understanding for these naturally-occurring characteristics of genuine leather.

      Leather coloring stains

Dyed leather products tend to leave stains. Please be careful not to allow the leather to adhere or rub against other objects such as clothing or other belongings, especially if the bag is wet from water or sweat from your hands.

      Interior leather may be loose

The interior leather of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.

Placement of button and tag vary

The "button in ear" atop the cover is attached by hand in Germany. The position and direction of the tag, and the direction of its button, vary.

      Avoid pulling the bookmark charm

Please handle with care and avoid pulling the teddy bear-shaped charms on the end of the bookmarks, as it may cause them to rip off.

Pen holders are rigid at first

The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.

Pen holder fits pens up to 13.5 mm wide

The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2 mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Japanese-version Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53”) in diameter.

Not for use with Cover on Cover

The PVC plastic of the Cover on Cover contains plasticizer additives which may cause a reaction in the leather dye and affect the color and quality of the leather cover. Please refrain from using the Cover on Cover with this product.

Immediately dry if it gets wet

Immediately dab your product with a dry cloth if it gets wet. Avoid drying it with high temperatures, and place it in a well-ventilated place in the shade.

Avoid storing in hot and humid places

Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.

Material contains variances in color and coat

The natural material contains variances in color and coat between each product.

Actual specifications may vary from listing

Each item is individually assembled and sewn by hand by a factory worker. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
