ARTS&SCIENCE HOBONICHI

The Japanese-style planner with one page per day celebrates its second year with useful new features. The Hobonichi Planner

The Hobonichi Planner is a collaboration between the Japanese website Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shimbun (Hobonichi) and the Tokyo-based select shop ARTS&SCIENCE, with direction by stylist and ARTS&SCIENCE owner Sonya Park. We’ve fine-tuned the original Hobonichi Techo so users around the world can enjoy the unique, easy-to-use design that's made the planner a hit in Japan since its creation in 2002.

The traditional Japanese techo is more than just a schedule book – it’s used as a sketchbook, a diary, or for other jottings and entries that make it an intimate part of its user's life. Experience for yourself the enjoyment and fascination of this unique aspect of Japanese culture.

The 2014 edition includes design improvements made in response to customer input.

A simple, refined design.

The Japanese characters for techo, along with the ARTS&SCIENCE logo, are stamped in gold on this chic, textured black cover. The 2014 edition cover features a slightly more matte finish.

The simple design of the daily pages maximizes creative freedom and ensures the planner is user-friendly in any country. Each two-day spread features an English translation of a quote from ARTS&SCIENCE owner Sonya Park or one excerpted from the Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shimbun website.

The 2014 edition welcomes its second year with new features

Each month begins with a page on which to write important dates or to-do lists for the upcoming month. Use this page to reflect on events in the month ahead.
The daily pages now feature the holidays of 30 countries, labeled by country code. There is also a page in the back with an overview of the world’s holidays.

Have fun with the handy appendix pages in the back of the planner.

This guide to sushi covers the fundamentals of the cuisine and is useful as a point-and-order page for non-Japanese ordering sushi in Japan.
This guide to Japanese sake covers the basics, including the terms for the different types. It also features a section on using chopsticks.
Country name codes are listed along with the international dialing codes.

We’ve kept everything that makes the Japanese version great.

-A page per day
-A6 Japanese paperback-size book
-Daily quotes translated into English
-High quality Tomoe River paper ideal for planners
-Lay-flat binding

New designs join the lineup of exclusive covers by ARTS&SCIENCE.

We’ve added a new style to the series of leather covers –
featuring a double-fold design with a belt fastener.
The leather, developed by an Italian craftsman, is available
in attractive colors. Though it may have a particularly coarse
feel from the scrubbing technique used in processing, this
smooths out over time as the leather conforms to its user.

Hobonichi Planner Lineup

The exclusive Hobonichi Planner covers come in five new designs,
three of which are only sold in A&S stores.
Last year’s tri-fold designs make their return in four attractive colors.
Planner books and covers may be purchased separately.
