Travel Smarter with the Tragen Flat Pouch

HiI I'm Iwasawa [ letfs talk about the gTragen Flat Pouchh!

This is the gTragen Flat Pouch for A5 Size.h

Itfs a great pouch for carrying your HON, but itfs also perfect for the travel. My husband came up with a really smart way to use it, so Ifd love to share that with you. Here it is!

Can you tell where this is?
Itfs the seat pocket on a bullet train.

When he travels for work or goes on trips, he says the first thing he does after taking his seat on a train or plane is pull the Tragen Flat Pouch out of his bag and slip it into the pocket in front of him [ just like this.

The pouch holds all the things he wants to grab quickly, so he doesnft have to keep pulling things out of the bag in the overhead rack. He said itfs super convenient.@When he was looking for a slim pouch that could fit in the pocket,@he thought, gTragen might be just right!h

Herefs everything he had inside.

I laid it all out at home to take a photo.

In the large pocket: HON and a pen, a Kindle, and an eye mask.
In the smaller pocket: a glasses cloth, earbuds, a mobile battery, a phone charging cable, and an Apple Watch charger.
When he takes a nap, it also becomes a spot to hold his glasses.

I asked him what he likes about actually using it.

gIt feels strong [ like it wonft break even if I pack it full.
It gets kind of stuffed, but everything fits and the flap still closes.h

Even when itfs full, it still looks neat.

Totally get that! It holds more than youfd expect. What else?

gThe leather pull tab on the zipper makes it feel a bit fancy. It doesnft look cheap, and I like that. Plus it opens wide in an L-shape, so itfs easy to keep things organized.h

Oh! Thatfs exactly what Maiko, who planned this pouch, said was super important!
(She talks about it on this page.)

All that stuff fits in so beautifully.

It made me really happy to hear that he understood what makes it great, and that hefs getting good use out of it.

Hefs using the larger A5 size, but therefs also a smaller A6 version of this pouch.
Listening to him talk, I thought the smaller one would be perfect for carrying a phone, some medicine, or a small book while traveling.

So thatfs the Tragen Flat Pouch [ a great travel buddy, too.
See you next time!

Look at the Floral Design on Phoolon

Hi everyone! This is Nakamae.

You know, Ifve kind of unofficially declared myself the ambassador of the gPhoolonh cover.

Just look at it.
The texture and depth that comes from the traditional Indian block printing technique [ itfs just so special.

Of course, the real hero of this cover is Shiori, who worked super hard on everything [ from negotiating with gchahat,h the fabric supplier, to choosing the fabric, creating the design, reviewing samples, and going back and forth a bunch of times.
So yes, I totally get it if people are like, gHow dare you take the credit!h
Because honestly, itfs Shiori who poured her heart into making this happen.

What makes this cover amazing is the folded fabric, block-printed by hand by Indian artisans. The slightly raised ink, the faded textures [ those unique qualities canft be recreated with screen printing.
Thatfs why this cover is really one-of-a-kind.

The Original has a gsmall flowerh print, while the Cousin features glarge flowers.h

So, why am I talking about this with such confidence?
Itfs because Ifve completely fallen in love with this design.
I just canft help it [ it means so much to me (probably more than it should).

I even talked about it passionately during our live YouTube stream, just before the new lineup launch.

And then, after that, I started seeing people on social media, on blogs (like gnoteh), and even at Hobonichifs own gJoy of Lifeh event, saying things like:
gI bought Phoolon because Nakamae recommended it!h
gAfter hearing Nakamae talk about it, I knew I had to get Phoolon!h

Thatfs when I thought [ Okay!! Ifve got to spread the word even more!!
People need to know how great this cover is!!!!!

Because really, it is such a beautiful cover.

Just look at this print.
Go ahead! Zoom in!
Isnft it gorgeous?
Each one is handmade, so no two are exactly the same.

And look at this little detail on the flap. That charm is also made in India. How cute is that?

Now look at this bold pink bookmark.
Donft you think itfs the perfect accent? It adds a lovely charm to the fresh, calm tones.
That contrast [ I absolutely love it.

It closes with a magnetic flap, and we actually added two magnets just in case. So if you like to stick lots of things inside your techo [ tickets, paper bits, all of it [ itfll still close just fine. Super thoughtful design, right?

Of course it works great with the Cousin, but it also goes perfectly with the Day-Free. The matching blue tones are just so nice, donft you think?

–––

I mentioned this on YouTube too, but Ifve always loved the combo of sky blue and pink. I used to live in a room that looked exactly like Phoolon.@Seriously I kept saying, gThis cover is just like my old room!h It was the perfect match.

I had a pink fridge and a pink clock in there.
I lived in that room alone for almost ten years. Everything about it was my favorite. Coming home every day felt like such a treat.

So when I got married and had to leave that room behind, I cried and cried.
gIfm giving up this room I love so muchch
gIfll never get to come back here againch

Thatfs how deeply I felt about that space.

But when I saw Phoolon, all those memories came rushing back.
gIt feels like when I saw that room for the first time!h
gI really loved that place.h
gIt wouldfve looked so perfect with this cover in it.h

And then something strange happened.
That room had always felt like a sad memory because I had to leave it behind. But as I spent more time with Phoolon, it started to feel like something really precious. Like a good memory.
Even though itfs long gone, I realized, gThat place will always live in my heart.h

And just realizing that filled me with this deep, quiet happiness.
Itfs a mysterious feeling, isnft it?

So yeah, I really love Phoolon.
Ifll keep saying it:
gYou should check out Phoolon!h
gPhoolon is amazing!h

Itfs not just a cover for your techo [ you can use it as a notebook cover, too. I hope youfll pick up your very own one-of-a-kind piece.

Add Even More Joy with Yumi Kitagishifs Stationery

Hi, this is Kawabata.
Today Ifd love to show you some fun and cheerful stationery thatfs perfect for spring.
Here it is!

Animals dressed up for a tea party, surrounded by colorful flowers.
Just looking at them is exciting, donft you think? It really puts you in a happy mood.

These are the gHobonichi Pencil Boards,h illustrated by Yumi Kitagishi.
Her warm brushstrokes, lovely colors, and storybook-like charm really draw you in.

For the Hobonichi Techo 2025, we created a bunch of stationery items featuring Kitagishifs illustrations. Each one is seriously delightful.
The more you look at the little details, the deeper you get pulled into the word [ and your heart canft help but flutter.

The gHobonichi Pencil Boardsh come in three sizes that fit perfectly with the techo. Each one is fully printed with bright, cheerful illustrations that lift your spirits.

This is the Cousin-size gIn the Garden.h
Check out the cat [ it looks like itfs bringing a bouquet to the tea party! From the collar to the feet, itfs dressed with style. So adorable.

The Original-size gIn the Roomh shows a cozy space shared by two cats.
There are tons of bunny-themed items [ rugs, cushions, plushiesc
Maybe theyfre huge bunny fans? (I have a pet rabbit myself, so I really relate to these cats. I feel like wefd get along!)

What caught my eye in the Weeks-size gAnimal Condoh was the koala that looks like a book lover, living surrounded by plants. And therefs a tiny room with a mouse living in it. (Maybe they chat about books together?)

We also have the gHobonichi Clear Fileh filled with little illustrations.
It features some of Kitagishifs favorite things and framed artwork.

Like these two adorable animals wearing different-colored hoods!

One of my personal favorites is this tea bag.
Therefs a single pretty flower inside [ it probably smells amazing when you add hot water. Look closely, and youfll spot a catfs face on the tag! That kind of small detail really gets me.

Therefs also a gentle-looking crocodile and turtle.
Maybe theyfre on their way to an important party or ceremony?

This notebook has a bookmark and letter tucked inside. Or maybe itfs a planner? Either way, it feels like something cherished and well-loved.

And how about this charming animal in a decorated frame?
The cute outfit and pose made me smile.

I even spotted a hedgehog!
I used to have one, so seeing it made me happy.

Therefs also a cat sipping tea and lost in thought.
It reminded me of this cafe with really good croque [ monsieur [ and now I want to go back!

The animal fishermanfs look is amazing [ bandana and overalls, totally stylish.

There are so many adorable drawings, I could go on forever!

Spending time with Kitagishifs art again, I realized something: I really love the geyesh in her drawings. They donft try to please anyone. Theyfre calm, confident, and looking straight ahead. When I look into my rabbitfs eyes, I sometimes feel the same thing [ this noble gaze. I see that same quality in Kitagishifs animals.

Besides pencil boards and clear files, Kitagishifs stationery lineup also includes sticky notes and memo pads.
Theyfre all beautifully designed, so please check them out if you get the chance.

Techo NEWS will keep going until early May!
Looking forward to sharing more with you next time!

Enjoy a Memorable Scene
with "Banquet (BLUE)"

Hello! This is Komata.
Wefre currently running a series where we talk all about the good things about planners and stationery [ are you enjoying it?

Today Ifd like to introduce one of the collaboration covers we made with ONE PIECE magazine: Banquet (BLUE).

The scene is from Volume 66 of the ONE PIECE manga, where the straw hat crew celebrates their victory on Fish-Man Island with a banquet at Ryugu Palace.

Past collaborations with ONE PIECE magazine included butterfly stopper covers and tri-fold leather covers, but for the 2025 edition, we have a brand new one: a tri-fold cover made of lightweight vinyl (PVC)!

Therefs a clear pocket on the front where you can store stationery and more. It looks especially cute when you slip in the Hobonichi Stencil - One Piece.

Flip the cover over and youfll find another pocket!
Itfs the perfect spot for little memos you want to keep handy.
You can even carry around the gStick It Anywhere! DONG!! Sticker Bookh without any trouble.

By the way, I really love the scene printed on the back.
The feast looks so delicious in the first panel [ but in the next one (to the left), all thatfs left are empty plates. Even the sake bottle is lying on its side.It makes me imagine all the joy and laughter that mustfve happened in between.

Now, letfs take a look inside the cover.
Therefs a clear pocket with a logo on the right-hand side.
Itfs a great place to keep your Clear Sticky Note Set (Emotions).

On the left side is a vertical pocket. Behind it, therefs a space to slide in your planner book, but you can also tuck in memos or cards.
Ifve stashed away some Square Letter Paper to Share Your Feelings Vol. 1 so I can grab it easily whenever I feel like writing.

And in the top left corner, therefs a flap you can use as a bookmark.
I added a little personal touch by putting a gDodonn!!!h sticker from the Sticker Set. Of course, inside the cover is the Hobonichi Techo 2025 Japanese Original Book - One Piece Edition.

Lastly, let me share what I love most about this cover. Itfs the understated English line printed on it.

Itfs a translation of a line of narration from the manga:
gEveryone was living for the moment. Everyone lived to laugh.h

If I can, Ifd love to only write happy things in my planner. But realistically, in a year of 365 days, therefll be tough times and sad moments, too. Sometimes you might catch yourself with a furrowed brow or a tense expression without even realizing it.

Live for the present. Live to laugh.

Having these words in a planner I spend each day with feels like a gentle reminder of whatfs really important.

Wefre already about a third of the way into 2025.
Letfs fill the remaining two-thirds with plenty of laughter, too.

Thatfs all for now. See you in the next article!

Making a Mini Stationery Set with a Mini Wallet

Hi, this is Asako.

Today I want to show you the gPOTR: Mini Wallet - Stroll Jr.h

The gPOTR: Mini Wallet - Stroll Jr.h looks just like a tiny version of the gPOTR: Strollh cover for planners, but itfs easier to show you than explain. So here it is.

That little orange one on the right is the Mini Wallet.
The ones in the middle and on the left are covers for the Cousin (A5 size) and the Original (A6 size) planners.

I already thought the gStrollh cover looked like a mini bag and was very cute, but this takes gminih even further. How cute!

And itfs not just the way it looks - itfs made with the same material as the planner covers, the handle has a snap button, and it opens and closes with a double zipper, so it really matches the cover in all the little details, too.

Out of all the matching parts, the one I like best is inside the wallet.

Just like how a planner fits perfectly inside the cover, this mini wallet comes with
a little notebook tucked inside. Itfs the same 3.7 mm graph paper as the planner notebooks.

Also, the Mini Wallet comes in carrot, green, and purple, and the notebook inside matches the color of the outside.

The notebook itself uses Tomoe River paper, and even though itfs small, it has 96 pages ? so you can write a lot in it.

When I held this Mini Wallet in my hands, it was just too cute. But I didnft know how else to describe it ? I mean, all I could say was 'cute!' So I ended up making a little stationery set to show what I meant.

It might seem sudden, but here it is.

From left to right: scissors, cutter, correction tape, two pens, mini envelopes, and writing paper.

So, what do you think?
I hope this helped you get even a tiny sense of just how cuteness this little thing is.

And actually, I didnft just line them up because theyfre cute - they all fit inside perfectly.

Thatfs when I realized again - this Mini Wallet isnft just small and cute. It fits more than you might expect.

So, even though it might feel like a bit of a splurge, I really think it works great
as a pouch to carry little stationery items along with your planner.

First up, the outer pocket. You could use it to store thin items like double-sided stickers or stencils.

Now for the inside. In the zipper pocket, you can keep tiny things like flake stickers that might get lost otherwise.

And this is something I totally missed until today - therefs another pocket right behind the zipper one! Itfs just the right spot for skinny washi tape.

And then you can also fit things with thickness like like Deco Rush or Pochitto6,
mini correction tape, a cutter, pens...

It still fits all of them.

Everything fits in perfectly.

Itfs just as good as the planner cover when it comes to storage, so if you want to keep all your
little planner supplies together and carry them neatly, I totally recommend this item.

Of course, just like the name says, it also works great
as a mini wallet. So if youfre interested, definitely check it out.

Frame Stickers: A Best Buddy for
Day-Free

Hi there! This is Nakamai.
Today, Ifd love to introduce you to the Hobonichi Frame Stickers! Have you used them before? I just started using them this year, so Ifm still a beginner [ but Ifm completely hooked now, and excited to tell you what I love about them!

So, what are they exactly? Well, just like the name says, theyfre stickers where you can write in the date yourself. Theyfre perfect for adding to blank pages, like memos or the graph pages in your Day-Free.

Herefs what they look like when you use them. (This is in Day-Free/A5)

Each set even comes with writing samples! Which is super helpful for someone like me who isnft the best at decorating [ I can just copy the examples and it still turns out cute. That alone makes these feel like a win.

There are 25 different frame designs [ stripes, polka dots, wavy ribbons, and more. You get four of each, so thatfs 100 stickers in total! I love peeling them off and sticking them in. Itfs just fun.

I like my dates to stand out, so I usually write them in using a fine-tipped sign pen.

As for how I use them [ I have a few planners I use throughout the year. A five-year diary for journaling, the HON (A6) for work notes, Weeks for my reading journalc And this year, I started one more notebook [ something I call my gGoal Notebook.h

Itfs where I write out everything I want to achieve this year,@plus the steps Ifll need to take to make it happen. Since itfs not something I update every single day, I chose the Day-Free Book A5 Size for that flexibility. But even then, there are times when I just want to write the date.

One of my big goals for this year is to watch as many classic movies from around the world as I possibly can. So Ifve been using the Frame Stickers to mark the date every time I watch one. So far, Ifve watched gIndiana Jones,h gJurassic Park,h gBack to the Futurehc

And Ifve been loving it. I got so into it that I didnft stop at just watching them [ I ended up writing my thoughts into mini reviews, putting them together into a book, and even releasing it for sale. Why not do what you love, right?

By the way, I watched gTitanich for the very first time in 2023. It really moved me, and I wanted to record that moment too. (That moviefs amazing.) (No wonder everyonefs seen it. I get it now.) So I wrote g2023h above the sticker and jotted down my thoughts right there. You can use them that way too!

And you can definitely use more than one on a page.

This year, with these Date Frame Stickers by my side, I want to keep chasing my dreams one by one. I really recommend them.

A Spring Breeze You Can Carry With You

Hello there. This is Tsuruki.

The cherry blossoms around our office are in full bloom, but Tokyofs been caught in a string of chilly days. At this rate, the season might pass us by before we even get to enjoy a proper Hanami... In the meantime, Ifd love to show you a beautiful cover by Hiroko Kubota: The Tone of Illuminated Flowers.

Even the trees and grass feel like theyfre part of the dream.
What you see here is a path lined with cherry trees. The petals are mostly a soft, pink-tinged white, with touches of deep pink, blue,
yellow [ even red. As I look at this mix of colors, Ifm reminded of that little flutter in my heart when I see cherry blossoms in real life.

The way the petals are drawn, they feel different every time I look. Sometimes like a wild spring gust sending blossoms flying. Other times, a gentle breeze letting them fall like snow. How do you see it?

Cats walking their bikes home. Just an ordinary moment [ but the kind that quietly stays with you.

On the back, therefs a mouse playing a harp under the moon. Flip the cover over, and suddenly you feel it [ like the music was always there.

Even the butterfly stoppers and inside pockets are filled with fluttering petals. Kubotafs artwork feels like a page from a picture book [ full of quiet stories. And when those little stories spill into every corner, itfs like the world keeps unfolding.

Herefs one more hidden detail: a white charm shaped like a cherry blossom petal, hanging from the bookmark.

My favorite part? This little spot inside the cover [ almost completely hidden once the plannerfs in. Itfs a bright, fluorescent yellow, like moonlight slipping through the cracks.

I managed to catch a bit of sun and snapped a photo with the cherry blossoms. Memories, new beginnings, fresh feelings [
The Tone of Illuminated Flowers is a cover that brings all of spring back to you.

See you again in the next update!

This Tiny Taut Zipped!

Hi, this is Hirano again.
Todayfs featured item is...

Taut Zipped

Just how taut is it? Letfs compare it with a standard Zippers cover.
First, take a look at this.

Same Original size, but more compact.

Wow, so small! On the left is the Original-size cover, Taut Zipped (Cafe au Lait Plaid). And for comparison, on the right is mina perhonen / pomppia (Light Blue).

Looking at the actual numbers:
- Taut Zipped: 6.85" ~ 5.63" (174mm ~ 143mm)
- Zippers: 7.72" ~ 6.26" (196mm ~ 159mm)
Thatfs a difference of about 0.87" in height and 0.63" in width [ roughly the height of a 100-yen coin.

Now, letfs compare the thickness too.

Hmm, can you tell the difference in the photo? The Taut Zipped is 1.06" thick (27mm), while the Zippers is 1.18" thick (30mm). A slight 0.12" difference, but if youfve used a Zippers cover before, Ifd love for you to hold this one in your hands sometime.

Gripping it like this, I thought. gWait, this feels thinner than what my hand remembers...h Back in 2014, I used a Zippers cover, but this one feels so much slimmer. Curious, I checked my old Zippers cover at home and realized [ it was stuffed full!

I had no idea I crammed this much in!

I used to paste all sorts of things into my Hobonichi Techo and stuff the pockets with even more. Thatfs just the kind of person I am [ if therefs a pocket, Ifll fill it. So for me, the difference felt way bigger than just 0.12".

The Taut Zipped is designed to stay compact, with fewer pockets to keep its sleek shape.

Two card pockets on the left side of the cover.

No pockets on the right, but you can tuck in small papers.

The inside is made with genuine leather, giving it a firmer structure. This stiffness helps keep it from bulking up. If you only need to carry a few documents or stationery items, this is a great choice for minimalists.

The Taut Zipped (Cafe au Lait Plaid) comes in both Original and Cousin sizes. Therefs also a matching tote bag [ so you can load that one up instead!

See you next time!

New Tragen in Fresh Colors for
Planner and Stationery

Hello, this is Kawabata.

I want to introduce the "Tragen" planner cover. It has a simple and sleek look but features a trifold design with plenty of storage pockets. Itfs perfect for those who want to carry stationery and cards along with their planner.

Until now, it was only available in black, but with the release of "Hobonichi Techo 2025 Spring," new colors [ Oakmoss and Red [ have arrived! More and more people in our office are using the new colors. I asked two of them, whose setups caught my attention, to share how theyfre using their covers!

yShiratofs Tragen Coverz
The first person is Shirato, who manages production for the planner team. Whatfs inside their Oakmoss Tragen cover...?

They carry a HON (A6), along with plenty of stationery and even a calculator! "The Tragen cover has pockets on the front, back, and inside, so as a stationery lover, I end up putting in a lot of things!"

Even when closed, the cover looks so neat. "I customized it with a Hobonichi monkey patch I got at the Hobonichifs Joys of Life shopping event and a Sleepy Sheep keychain."

In the zippered front pocket, they keep pens, mini scissors, glue, a measuring tape [ and even a little 'snake' peeking out...! "This snake is actually a cord organizer for charger cables. The Tragen cover even fits bulkier items like this."

This cover has a magnetic closure. Taking advantage of that, Shirato keeps clips neatly stored inside the pocket. What a great idea!

"I was looking for a cover that fits the HON (A6), and the Tragen cover turned out to be perfect. In the card pockets on the left side, I store bandages, sticky notes, and cards."

In the easy-access back pocket, they keep frequently used items like a calculator, sticky notes, and a coaster.

yOtafs Tragen Coverz
Next, I talked to Ota from the product team, who uses the other new color, Red! Ota mainly works on "weeksdays," a collection of various items created in collaboration with stylist Masako Ito and Hobonichi.

Ota has been with the company for 17 years. Though not part of the planner team, theyfve been using the Hobonichi Techo since 2003, before even joining the company. "I donft really care about formats like the one-day-per-page or weekly left layouts [ I just pick the cover I like each year. This year, I instantly fell for the Paddington Weeks.

I never used a cover before and always carried my Weeks as is, but the Red Tragen released this spring was just too cutec So, Ifm using a cover for the first time in a while. It goes perfectly with the Paddington cover!"

Ota likes to carry only the essentials. When I asked to see whatfs inside, there were pens, sticky notes, business cards, message cards, and a "Hobonichi Template" featuring Coji-Coji (Loft exclusive). "I love how the Tragen cover lets me organize everything neatly while keeping it compact."

"I find the front pocket especially useful. Since it has a 'bottom,' pens and other items donft fall to the back, making them easy to grab."

"Sometimes I even slip my phone into the back pocket. With this cover, I can carry my planner, stationery, business cards, and phone ? all my work essentials [ making it super convenient when Ifm on the go. And this Red color [ just carrying it around lifts my mood, and I often get compliments on it, which makes me happy!"

Whether you like carrying lots of things with your planner or keeping it neatly organized, the Tragen cover is a great choice. Why not pair it with your favorite planner and give it a try?

The two of them just happened to be wearing outfits that matched their planner covers.

What will be featured in the next Planner News? Stay tuned to find out!

The light and slim "Only is Not Lonely"

Hello! This is Shioguchi.

Today, Ifm showing a casual planner cover with an elastic band,
"Only is Not Lonely."

This planner cover is designed without the usual pockets or butterfly stoppers, making it incredibly lightweight and sleek to carry.

œShioguchifs Favorite Points!

(1) Very Slim

Without inner pockets, it stays thin and minimal.

There are no pockets, but you can tuck papers into the flap. And if you ever feel like you need more storage, the "Add-on Pocket" is a great option. Letfs compare it with a butterfly stopper-style cover.

This time, I compared it with a fabric cover. Itfs noticeably slimmer!

(2) Super Light

The material is synthetic leather. Itfs lightweight and easy to use, yet it has a refined look.

(3) Secure Elastic Band

This elastic band does an amazing job. It keeps your planner from opening in your bag and helps keep everything compact and neat.

(4) Simple & Minimal Design

I love the clean design that makes the coverfs message stand out. The gold-foil "ONLY IS NOT LONELY" text on the cover has a refined look, making it great for business settings too.

Inside, therefs a hidden message: "Happy Nothing Special Day!"

The cover comes in two sizes: Original (A6) and Cousin (A5).

Each size has a different color [ A6 is a deep green, while A5 is a chocolate brown.

œPerfect for These Users!

I especially recommend it forc

(1) "Day-Free" and "Avec Books" Users

It pairs perfectly with the already light and slim "Day-Free" and "Avec Books" planners.

Even with the cover on, it stays this thin! It feels great to use.

(2) Hobonichi Notebook Users

It also works great as a notebook cover.

Hobonichi notebooks that fit this cover come in graph, lined, and blank styles. I personally use it this way [ I keep an A5 graph notebook in this cover for work. Itfs perfect for jotting down ideas and taking notes.

The one I use is actually last yearfs model. It doesnft take up space when left open on my desk, and when I move around for meetings, I can carry my notebook and pen together. Super convenient.

What will be the theme for the next "Great things about covers and stationary." Stay tuned!
