Our top seller in A6 size was the Animal Crossing cover. Animal Crossing also made the list for the A5 covers and the Accessories lineup, so the popularity of the series is definitely clear as a “bell!” In second place was Hiroko Kubota, fourth place Josef Čapek, and sixth place Shinsuke Yoshitake, showing that many users opted to greet the new year with cute designs reminiscent of classic children’s books.

MOTHER covers are a hit every year, and they came in at third and fifth place. The MOTHER / Cast (MOTHER 3) cover features characters from MOTHER 3, and is this year’s top-selling MOTHER cover. Dreamy Soda and Denim Blue were the top sellers in the Colors lineup, showing the popularity and versatility of blue—the Blossom cover, sitting in eighth place, is also a refreshing light blue.

It’s no surprise that Shinsuke Yoshitake is so popular. Today’s Adventure takes first place among A5 covers, with the Animal Crossing cover that led the A6 field coming in second place here. Third place is the tambourine (Navy) cover, made from a textile that has been an enormous hit at minä perhonen since its debut.

Fourth place is the Erica cover by Liberty Fabrics, while the cover all-over printed with an image by American photographer and painter Saul Leiter checks in at fifth. (It also made the list in A6.) Among the Colors series covers at this size, they are popular in the order of Lake Blue, Lemon Squash, and Black x Clear Blue. Just like the A6 size covers, blue covers were very popular this year.

Cat fanciers might have influenced the bottom of the list—Reflect (ninth) and Cat Over Kanda (tenth) both prominently feature felines.

The Bow & Tie fabric series was a hit across the 2022 lineup, with Forest Tiger coming in at number one (thanks to next year being the Year of the Tiger) and Dandelion Pappus number two. After that we’ve got bright and colorful designs like the Joanna Louise cover by Liberty Fabrics and the Dreamscape design by YUKI FUJISAWA, which includes sparkling floral lace.

The MOTHER series was also popular among Weeks designs, and a number of quaint, charming designs made the cut as well, like 365 Days and the Doggie and Pussycat design by Josef Čapek.

Popular Colors series Weeks books include Peach and Sunny Blue, and the Mint Soda cover from the Nuance series also made the cut. It looks like plain Weeks book designs with soft colors were a hit this year.

The best-selling Hobonichi brand accessory this year was the Hobonichi Pencil Board (Navy x Pink). It was popular in all three sizes—A6, A5, and Weeks—and this color scheme that's new this year was most popular among the many designs available for the pencil boards. We assume lots of users are planning to match the second-place Animal Crossing pencil board with their new techo cover.

Also at the top this year, as always, are the Cover on Cover and Clear Cover. In addition to the perennially popular blank types, the Yuka Hiiragi’s printed design for 2022 made the list, so we can tell users are treating their techos very well. Another Yuka Hiiragi design that made the cut was the A5 size Hobonichi Plain Notebook. Of the many Shinsuke Yoshitake accessories in the lineup, the most popular so far are the Today’s Adventure Stickers.

The top seller in our collection of curated stationery is the ink refill for the bonus Jetstream pen! Other perennial favorites have made the list as well, including the Landscape Index Tabs, See-Through Dot Stickers, Kitta, and Mini-Scissors Pocket Secretary. The Vintage YUKI FUJISAWA design of Kitta pre-cut washi tape was especially popular. Many people also picked up the Hobonichi Techo Official Guidebook alongside their techo.

Of all the writing utensils and washi tape, the casual Preppy Fountain Pen and the minä perhonen washi tape were the top hits. Also on the list was the Correction Pen Slim, a portable correction pen that works great for small writing.
