Yumi Kitagishi is an illustrator gaining attention in Japan and beyond, and her work has been turned into a techo cover again this year. This 2026 version showcases the full charm of her drawings once more.
The world created by Kitagishi in acrylic gouache draws you in, quietly making you imagine the stories or settings behind each piece for a special kind of wonder. Both nostalgic and exciting, her illustrations perfectly capture the charm of a picture book. The theme for this techo cover is a “White Cat’s Daily Life,” and it is made out of a polyester material.
The day she placed a candle on a cake and celebrated. The day she dressed herself up with a ribbon. The day she enjoyed leisurely hanging out with her stuffed teddy. All of the wonderful moments the white cat experienced in her everyday life are recorded in a vivid memory board.
There is another illustration in the pocket on the back of the cover. You can see a glimpse of a white cat caught on film! Have a look inside to find out what else might be hidden.
The cover interior comes in a red checkered pattern, which was also drawn by Kitagishi. The pocket on the right is decorated with the white and black cats. Additionally, the cute white cat is also depicted on a strip of film.
Once again included this year is an exclusive brand card with an original design. If you put it in one of the pockets, opening your techo every day will become even more fun.
The pockets on the left side have pieces of stationery and other colorful items peeking out, making for another charming feature.
In addition to the cover, we have prepared a variety of items using Kitagishi’s work, such as stickers, a sticky note roll, an embroidered bookmark, a mini folder, a mini letter set, an Everlasting “Paper” Bag and a ballpoint pen, which you can use to match your techo.
Drawer Pouches featuring Kitagishi’s illustrations are also available in four sizes.
35 of the happy and fun-filled days in the white cat’s life are luxuriously spread out on this cover. We hope you can experience and take part in the wondrous tales woven by Kitagishi.
Illustrator. Creates works with a rich sense of color and the warmth of hand-drawing, giving people a picture book-like view of the world. Illustrated Almost Christmas (published by Hakusensha) and Kitty Cat Nursery Strolling Car (written by Hiroshi Ishizaki, published by Kodansha).

If you’ve used any of these products, we welcome your notes on what you like about them or what led you to buy them so we can share it with customers who are currently considering these products. We’d also love to welcome comments from customers who purchased their techo outside the Hobonichi Store or received their book as a gift.
We’ve compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Additionally, the color of the product may be slightly different in actuality than compared to how it appeared on a computer or smartphone screen.
Due to the structure of the cover that opens flat 180 degrees, exterior stitching areas may appear puckered and lining material may be loose.
The pen holder is designed to fit the 12.2 mm (0.48") diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free Hobonichi Store Exclusive Bonus. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53") in diameter.
The cover's color and print pattern are created by dyeing or printing onto white fabric. While we take care to ensure consistency during production, slight variations in color or pattern may occur between individual items. This may also happen across a single cover, such as a pocket compared to the rest of the cover. Minor print blurring or uneven coloring may also be present. In addition, on rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the print. This is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
