In the smash-hit manga One Piece, Straw Hat Luffy goes on an adventure with his friends in search of “the One Piece,” a legendary treasure. ONE PIECE magazine dives into the charms of the hit manga series in order to help fans further enjoy the world of One Piece. We have a special collaboration with ONE PIECE magazine.

Straw Hat Luffy (Purple) is a techo cover that lets you spend your year with Luffy, who is always excited and ready to go no matter what kinds of difficulties or formidable enemies he encounters. The artwork was drawn by creator Eiichiro Oda specially for ONE PIECE magazine. There’s a drawing of young Luffy with a fun grin on his face next to a grown Luffy in the vibrant, silkscreen-printed image.

The cover interior is a deep shade of pale yellow—the color of straw. The right-hand pocket is silkscreen-printed with a silhouette of Luffy on a black background. This image is from the thousandth chapter of the series.

The left-hand pocket features a collaboration logo for ONE PIECE magazine and the Hobonichi Techo.

The bookmarks are red strings with white charms. The spine of the cover is black to recreate the look of ONE PIECE magazine’s book spine.

Peek inside the cover’s outer back pocket and you’ll see a powerful phrase that appears in the series.

We recommend pairing this cover with the Hobonichi Pencil Board for A5 Size (Memories - Fish-Man Island), which offers a comfortable writing surface under your current page.

Vitality and power of the original artwork

This powerful illustration was specially drawn by Eiichiro Oda for the cover of ONE PIECE magazine, where the graphic design was then touched up. The Straw Hat Luffy (Yellow/Purple) techo covers pay homage to the graceful and stylish design of ONE PIECE magazine.

These images are from the covers of ONE PIECE magazine Vol. 2 and Vol. 8, and the artwork has really dynamic action with a windblown look.

The Cousin size cover (Purple) is similar in size to ONE PIECE magazine, which gives it equally strong visual punch. It’s also fun and interesting to be caught off guard by seeing two Luffys.

The black block of text along the spine is also based on the design of ONE PIECE magazine, and reads “They Call Him ‘Straw Hat Luffy’.” Luffy’s quote printed inside the cover’s external pocket is different from last year; this year it says “This is it, Luffy!” We hope you enjoy it.

The right-hand pocket inside the cover is printed with an image from Chapter 1000. Luffy’s silhouette is purposefully placed a bit to the right of center in order to keep it similar to the original comic strip.

One of the amazing things about One Piece is how even just a single silhouette from the series can look so meaningful and cool. We painstakingly worked out all the details of this cover―down to which scenes or quotes to include and how to portray them―with the editing department of ONE PIECE magazine.

Actual specifications may vary from listing: Each item is individually assembled and sewn by hand by a factory worker. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
Color and print may vary slightly: This material is first printed or dyed and then later sewn onto the cover. While colors are designed to be consistent, there may be uneven coloring or slight shade variances between covers. This may also happen across a single cover, such as a pocket compared to the rest of the cover. In addition, on rare occasions, there may be small black or white dots visible on the print. This is an unavoidable aspect of the manufacturing process.
Cover may contain variations in stitching or loose lining: Due to the structure of the cover that opens flat 180 degrees, exterior stitching areas may appear puckered and lining material may be loose.
Pen holders are rigid at first: The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.
Pen holder fits pens up to 13.5 mm wide: The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2 mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free Hobonichi Store Exclusive. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5 mm (0.53”) in diameter.
Avoid storing in hot and humid places: Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.
Silk printed image may peel off over time: The silk print may eventually peel or come off with daily use. If using a Cover on Cover, the silk print may stick to the plastic and eventually come off with it from the constant contact.
