Nami KishidaI Love My Family for Who They Are / The I Can't Take it Anymore Chronicles

This is a book by popular writer Nami Kishida who writes about her family. Ryota Kishida, who drew the calendar numbers featured on the Hobonichi Techo Weeks' 365 Days calendar, also appears frequently.

The I Love My Family for Who They Are book talks about Kishida’s wheelchair-bound mother, younger brother with Down Syndrome, and venture entrepreneur father who suddenly passed away. The days that Kishida spends with her family are filled with everything from smiles to tears. The page numbers in this book were written by her younger brother Ryota, who had before this been unable to write. Also pay attention to the family photos taken by Hiroshi Hatano, located between the pages of the book. This is Nami Kishida's first book.

The I Can't Take it Anymore Chronicles showcases the Kishida family and their ups and downs in 2021. During the Coronavirus pandemic, her mother Hiromi fell ill and had a major, life-saving surgery. Her younger brother, who has Down Syndrome, continues to be puzzled by the family’s grandmother, who can’t get her mind out of the past due to her Altzheimers. Anytime anything in the Kishida family needs to be done, it’s up to Nami. She wrote The I Can't Take it Anymore Chronicles over a period of 37 days while following her philosophy of “Life is a tragedy if you suffer it alone, but a comedy if you talk it out with others and make them laugh.” Shigesato Itoi wrote the phrase on the book obi that reads, "If it was a lie, it would be genius. But it’s not, so it’s incredible.” The paper in the book gradually turns yellow as you progress, expressing how things cheer up over time.

Both books are autobiographical essays that illustrate the incredible daily life of Nami Kishida.
