Josef CapekA Doggie and a Pussycat

Czech painter and author Josef Čapek wrote and illustrated this children’s book, which was also used in this year’s Hobonichi Techo cover and Weeks book. This book is the Japanese version.

The book was originally published in Prague in 1929, and is such a classic of Czech children's literature that it’s said to be in nearly every home in the Czech Republic.

In this story, a responsible cat and a good-natured dog want to live like humans, so they wash the floor, bake a cake, and write letters. The book focuses on 10 delightful stories about the two animals doing their best to live just like people.

The dialogue and behavior of the two animals will make you chuckle, while the soft lines of the artwork and cute expressions will leave you relaxed. A favorite of adults and children alike, it can also help you enjoy your Doggie and Pussycat techo even more.
