minä perhonen piece, (spring mix) A5 Size (fits Cousin)

minä perhonen creates timeless, all-original garment textiles that are specially dyed, embroidered, and woven to recreate hand-drawn designs.

We’re pleased to bring back the piece, series for the 2022 spring lineup. These patchwork covers are assembled by hand using all the left-over pieces saved during the production of clothing.

The A5 Cousin size cover is a patchwork design that comes to life with the union of ten meticulously created textiles of various colors, fabrics, and styles.

The cover interior is made from light yellow cow leather. It’s accented with a butterfly embroidery.

Two dotted lace bookmarks are attached.

Each patch is cut from a different spot in the original textile and sewn into the patchwork by hand, giving every cover an entirely unique look. Due to the limited nature of the textile leftovers used in the patchwork, this cover is available through lottery sale.

Textiles used in piece, (spring mix)

1. kaleidoscope (2011-12 Autumn / Winter)

This three-dimensional Jacquard velvet design explores the world of shapes as seen through a spinning kaleidoscope.

2. land puzzle (2013-14 Autumn / Winter)

Corduroy ridges form various patterns, with shadows and 3D effects making it look like a scene you’re looking down on from the sky.

3. multistripe (2002-03 Autumn / Winter)

These multicolored stripes are made with double-weave. The front has stripes in random widths and the back with consistent thin stirpes, creating a different woven expression on each side.

4. ballade (2007-08 Autumn / Winter)

Small flowers that bloom when the snow begins to melt away are illustrated on this Cut Jacquard textile. The dainty flowers evoke the image of spring.

5. metsä (2012 Spring / Summer)

This velvet jacquard textile expresses trees in a forest that seemed to have been rained in a morning dew, transformed by a shine of sunlight and is surrounded by a calm silence.

6. moss pearl (2019 Spring / Summer)

Asymmetrical Jacquard velvet spots dot this symmetrically woven checkered pattern. The complexity of the woven textile required a complicated manufacturing process.

7. tambourine (2000-01 Autumn / Winter)

Freehand-drawn circles are embroidered in dots that protrude from the fabric in this minä perhonen classic.

8. hanakaze (2021 Spring / Summer)

Curved stripes depict the stems and leaves of wildflowers blooming side by side with the wind blowing through them.

9. good old (2018-19 Autumn/Winter)

This textile features an idyllic flower motif. It makes us imagine a scenery where grandmothers are sitting down together and having a chat while stitching.

10. mori no hoshi (2021-22 Autumn / Winter)

This textile shows unicorns that are donkeys living serenely and peacefully. The pattern was born through the realization that the mentality to create such a world in itself is a rare gift and is a special existence.

*The bracketed years are the season in which the textile was first announced.

Please Read Before You Buy

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.

Actual specifications may vary from listing

Each item is individually assembled and sewn by hand by a factory worker. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.

Pattern alignment varies by product

The patterned fabric has not been aligned to a specific layout, so the placement of each design will vary by product. The product will not be an exact replica of the one in the product photographs.

Threads may protrude from embroidered area

Please note that embroidered areas may contain threads that protrude from the design.

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy

Stitching may be slightly curved or bumpy as a result of sewing together materials of various thicknesses.

Patchwork patterns vary by cover

The textiles comprising the patchwork design differ by design and location for each cover. Please understand the random nature of the design before ordering.

Leather may contain preexisting wrinkles and marks

In order to allow customers the enjoyment of all-natural leather, the leather is processed in a way that retains its original feel. This may leave imperfections visible on the surface of the cover, such as wrinkles, scratches, stains, or vein marks.
Depending on the conditions in which the cover is used, natural oils of the leather may emerge and appear as stains. We ask for your understanding for these naturally-occurring characteristics of genuine leather.

Use caution around sharp objects

The material in this product snags easily on sharp objects, so please handle with care.

Inquiries about the minä perhonen collaboration covers

These Hobonichi Techo cover designs were directed by minä perhonen, but produced by Hobonichi. Inquiries about these covers cannot be answered at minä perhonen shop locations, so please contact the Hobonichi Store with any questions or concerns.

Avoid storing in hot and humid places

Please avoid storing your product in hot, humid places or placing it atop other objects for long periods of time as this may result in lower quality and color stains.

Not for use with Cover on Cover

The PVC plastic of the Cover on Cover contains plasticizer additives which may cause a reaction in the leather dye and affect the color and quality of the leather cover. Please refrain from using the Cover on Cover with this product.
