The Colors series is a regular in our cover lineup, and provides a variety of solid colors. It comes in the basic style with pen holders that keep the cover shut. We’ve implemented many improvements over the years in response to customer input, making this one of the most user-friendly options.
Water Blue is a combination of two beautiful shades of blue. The exterior is a pale blue, and the interior is a striking, vibrant ultramarine that catches your eye every time you open your cover. Blue matches well with everything, and is a unique yet subtle color that is sure to add a sense of refreshment to your everyday life.
High-quality polyester construction gives this cover its sturdy feel and subtle shine — it’s durable enough to last a long time, but light enough to carry with you everywhere.
The pen holders act as a hinge that keeps the cover safely shut when storing a pen in both of the holders. The cover contains two bookmarks, one with a rectangle charm and one with a triangle charm, so you can keep your place in two parts of the book, such as the monthly calendar and the daily calendar.
Sold separately in the online Hobonichi Store is the Cover on Cover, which protects your cover from wear and tear and provides a great place to storepostcards, pictures, and other decorations to change up your customization at any time.
Also available is the illustrated Cover on Cover series to add even more charm to your cover. You can even buy a few and switch them out with the changing seasons. (Pictured left: “Beginnings”, right: “Stockholm”)
Cover Insertion Guide:
You can follow these instructions for easily inserting your book into the cover.

1. Open the book as wide as you can (until the front and back book coversmeet).
2. Keep the book in this position as you insert the book covers into the slots of the cover.
3. Close the book to adjust the positioning, and you’re all set.

In order to provide you with the most satisfaction for your product, we've compiled a list of warnings, potential issues, and tips to keep in mind for this particular product. Please be sure to read this information carefully before placing your order.
- All covers are hand-made and may contain slight variances
Each and every cover is individually sewn by a factory worker hand-operating a sewing machine. Best efforts are made to ensure consistent sizes and specifications, but there may be slight differences.
- Color may vary slightly between cover and pockets
The material for each part of the cover is printed or dyed separately. While colors are designed to be consistent across the entire cover, the shade may vary slightly.
- Interior of cover may be loose
The interior of the cover may not be perfectly taut due to limitations during the manufacturing process.
- Pen holders are rigid at first
The pen holders are rigid at first, making it difficult to insert pens. You can speed up the breaking-in process by rolling the pen holders in your hand.
- Sliding no-slip pens into the pen holder
Pens with rubber, non-slip grips may be difficult to slide into the pen holder.
- Maximum pen width of 13.5mm for pen holder
The pen holder is designed to perfectly fit the 12.2mm (0.48”) diameter Jetstream pen offered as a free bonus gift with select Japanese-version Hobonichi Web Shop products. Pens with certain shapes and materials may be difficult to pull through the holder. The holder can fit pens up to 13.5mm (0.53”) in diameter.
- “Cover Only” price change
Due to an increase in material costs and other unavoidable factors, starting with the 2017-edition, it has become difficult to maintain the usual price of our Colors and Faux Fabric covers. In order to maintain the price of the covers, we will be offering these covers at the usual price when bought as a set with the Hobonichi Techo book. We apologize for the trouble, but when ordering the cover without a book, we will not be able to keep that price, so Cover Only orders will cost slightly more. Please add to your cart as a “Book & Cover set” to keep the cover’s lower price.
