Bandai SpiritsBelch Plush

This Belch plush is a remake of the one made in 2010 for the “Belch’s Factory” plush series that was featured in crane games in Japan. It was created by figurine producer Norihiro Sakata from Bandai Spirits, who also worked on the MOTHER series figurine collection for crane games and the oversized Mr. Saturn plush.

Sakata was moved by the scene from MOTHER 2 where Belch enslaved the Mr. Saturns, and when he first worked on the crane game plush toys, he incorporated the scene so that players could physically rescue the Mr. Saturns with the crane game.

This remake of the Belch plush features a slightly brighter color. “The green was darker last time, but considering that it’s hard to tell how Belch looked on each person’s screen, and given that we were going to be using a new material this time anyway, I decided to try out a Belch that looked a little prettier.” The result is a new plush unique to 2020. And the mouth on the Belch plush is wide and deep, so we won’t stop you from digging your hand around there.

We sat down with Sakata to talk about the development process for the Belch plush back when it was first designed. We’ve even got an old picture of Sakata inside a big Mr. Saturn costume next to Itoi!
