Katsushika HokusaiKatsushika Hokusai Book - Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji

Despite the name of the world-famous Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji series by Katsushika Hokusai, the collection actually includes 46 woodblock prints in all. This Japanese-language book features the full collection. The author, Junichi Okubo, a professor at the National Museum of Japanese History, categorizes all 46 works into five perspectives: "nature," "composition," "location," "journey," and "business." He explains in an easy-to-understand manner the hidden intentions behind Hokusai’s works. There are also lots of articles talking about the scenery depicted in the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji series, as well as the life of Hokusai. The book serves well as an art book to page through, or an informational book for those who’d like to learn more about the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji series.
