佐々木さんのことを知っているわけですけど、
最近、佐々木さんがおっしゃっている
「当事者主義」っていう視点が
おもしろいなあと思っているんです。
佐々木 ああ、はい。
糸井 つまり、当事者として発信することで人は動く。
逆に第三者的な場所、安全圏に身をおいて
当事者としてではなく発信することは
むしろ危険な行為だし、信用もされない。
佐々木 そうですね。
それまでのぼくは、
ずっと「ネット対マスコミ」という感じの
対立軸で話してたんですけれど、
いまはもうそういう軸ではなくて、
「当事者であるか」という点が
すごく重要になってきていると思うんです。
そのきっかけになったのは、
やっぱり、3.11。
糸井 はい。
佐々木 ぼくは４月に入ってから
はじめて被災地に入ったんですが、
そこで気づいたことは、
「自分に語れるものがなにもない」
ということだったんです。
陸前高田とか、気仙沼とか、
自分がそこでなにか語れるかっていうと、
語れるものはほとんどない。
そこにいる人に取材して書くっていう、
いわゆる従来の新聞社の手法は
あるかもしれないんですけど、
それをやっても、たぶんなにか違うだろうなと。
糸井 いちおう、それで形にはなるんでしょうね。
佐々木 はい。
よくある新聞の雑感記事には
なるかもしれないんですけど、
それをやろうとは思わなかったし、
実際にそれをやってる新聞やテレビの姿勢には
すごく疑問を感じていた。
ところが、河北新報。
糸井 はい。
佐々木 仙台に本拠地のある河北新報の記事が
すばらしいんです。
どこがいいかというと、
一般的な新聞の記事というのは、
特異な例を取りあげたがるんですよ。
「そんな人、滅多にいないだろう」
みたいな人を探してきて、スポットを当てて、
これがいかにもいまの世の中を示している、
っていうふうに記事にする。
糸井 ああ、そうですね。
佐々木 そういうやり方って、
マスコミの常套手段なんですけど、
河北新報がやってたのは、
ぜんぜんそういうことじゃなかった。
社会面でほぼ毎日連載してた記事があるんですけど、
そのときどうしていた、何を感じていた、
ということを書いている。
すごいドラマがあるわけでもなく、
津波に遭ったけれど助かって、
いまはこういうことをしています、
っていうことを、日々、ずっと記録し続けてる。
この記事が非常にすばらしかったんです。
糸井 なるほど。
佐々木 で、その取材チームの中心人物である
寺島さんという名物記者の方に、
お会いしてお話をうかがったんですが、
ああいう記事を書ける理由として、
当たり前のように、
「それはぼくらが被災者だからですよ」って、
おっしゃったんです。
それでぼくは、なるほどと感動してしまって。
糸井 ああー。
佐々木 河北新報の記者は、ほぼ全員が東北の出身。
だから、自分自身ももちろん被災者だし、
自分の家族、親族、あるいは友人、知人、
どこかに、必ず死者がいたり、
行方不明の人がいたり、
避難してる人がいると。
そうすると、取材に行ったときに、
とても、他人事のようには聞けない。
糸井 はい。
佐々木 取材するときに、ふつうだったら、
「どうでしたか」ってところからはじまるんですけど、
もう、被災者と話した瞬間に、
「わたしの友人がね」とか、
そういうやり取りがはじまって、
そのなかで記事を書いてる。
そういうやり方をすると、
いままでのような第三者的な立ち位置からの
記事というのは、書けなくなってしまう。
糸井 うん、うん。
佐々木 でも、それって、ほんとはね、
いままでの新聞のセオリーでは、
やってはいけないって言われてたことなんです。
糸井 つまり、個人の主観ではなく、
第三者として客観的に書きなさいと。
佐々木 そうなんです。
ぼくは1988年から12年半くらい
毎日新聞で新聞記者をやってたんですけど、
とにかく、客観しろ、中立であれ、ということを
基本的な教えとして叩き込まれました。
もちろん、取材対象の気持ちを理解するのは
とても大事なことなんだけれど、
あまりにも対象に入り込んでしまって、
合一してしまってはいけない、
ということを、ずっと言われてたんです。
でも、河北新報の記者たちがやってることは
まったく逆なんですね。
それで、ぼくは寺島さんに、
「それってもう、客観中立報道じゃないじゃないか」
って訊いたんです。
糸井 それは、佐々木さんとしては、
どっちの気持ちで訊いたんですか？
「客観中立報道になってなくて、
ダメじゃないですか」っていう
佐々木 いえ、そういったセオリーを超えて、
すごくいい方向に来てるんじゃないですか、と。
糸井 つまり、その在り方がいいなと思って。
佐々木 そうです。
というのは、ぼくも常々、
客観中立なんてありえないと思っていたので。
糸井 ああ、なるほど。
佐々木 客観中立がありえないのに、
その幻想にすがってる新聞社は
おかしいじゃないかと言い続けていた。
だからこそ、そこに踏み込んでる
河北新報はすごいなと思った。
幻想とかセオリーを乗り越えて、
すごいところに行っちゃってるじゃないですか。
そういうつもりで訊いたんですよ。
そしたら、ちょっと息をのんで、
「おっしゃるとおりです」と。
糸井 うん、うん。
佐々木 やり取りを通してぼくが思ったのは、
おそらく、これからメディアが発信するものは、
それがマスメディアなのかネットメディアなのか
というようなことはどうでもよくて、
その立ち位置が問われるようになる。
そういう時代に、いま、来ているのかなと。
糸井 あああ、なるほど。
佐々木 たぶん、これまでは、ずっと、
政治に関しても、経済に関しても、社会問題に関しても、
「他人事みたいな感じ」を多くの日本人は感じていた。
その「他人事意識」が、
図らずも震災を機会に大転換して、
ついに払拭される可能性がある。
そう感じたら、すごくジーンとしてしまって。
そこから、「当事者としての立ち位置」が
問われる時代なんだって考えはじめたんです。
マスだろうが、ネットだろうが、
当事者意識のない人はもう影響力を持たない。
逆に、当事者意識を持って報道する、
あるいはブログで書く、ツイートする人こそが、
今後の社会の担うんじゃないのかなと。
糸井 そうすると、その問いかけは
自分にも向けられるわけですよね。
佐々木 そうですね。
糸井 震災が起こる前の自分と、
いまの自分が比べられるというか。
佐々木 はい。

ツイートしていたという印象があるんですが。
佐々木 それは、徐々にですね。
震災の直後はもう、大混乱でしたから。
原発が爆発し、情報が錯綜し、
なにもわからないままに１ヵ月くらい過ぎて。
糸井 あ、佐々木さんでも、
そこは１ヵ月、過ぎましたか。
佐々木 過ぎました。
ものすごい混乱のなかで、
で、とりあえず、
自分にできることをしようと思って、
目の前にあるものに取り組んでいくんですが、
ぼくの専門はやっぱりメディアなので、
現地に取材に行くっていうよりも、
混乱している情報をどうにかしようと。
糸井 なるほど。
佐々木 日々、行き交う膨大な情報のなかで
みんなが混乱している姿を
まざまざと見ていましたから。
だったら、キュレーション
自分の価値観や世界観に基づいて情報を拾い上げ、
そこに新たな意味を与え、
そして多くの人と共有すること。
『キュレーションの時代』より）的なことというか、
自分から見てこれはまともだなと思った
情報だけを選んで流してみようかなと。
そういう作業をはじめたのが、
震災の数日後くらいでした。
糸井 飛び交う膨大な情報のキュレーションが
佐々木さんの「できること」だった。
佐々木 ええ、最初はもう、それしかなかった。
とにかくものすごい量の情報が行き交ってましたから。
ぼくはそもそもウェブでの情報収集を
自分のジャーナリスト活動の
中心に据えている部分があって、
２年くらい前からかな、
かなりの量の情報を読んでるんですよ。
グーグルリーダーっていう新着記事の未読件数を
教えてくれるツールがあるんですけど、
それで登録しているブログとかニュースサイトの数が
だいたい700強ぐらい。
糸井 うわぁ、想像しただけで、やだなぁ（笑）。
佐々木 １日にね、見出しの数だけでいうと
1000から1500くらい。
糸井 びゅんびゅん飛んでる情報を
空中で捕まえる感じですね。
佐々木 そうなんです。
もう、とにかく空いてる時間はすべて使って。
じつはさきほども、糸井さんが来るまでの数分間、
グーグルリーダーをチェックしたりしていて（笑）。
糸井 その日常にもう慣れちゃってるわけですね。
佐々木 そうですね、それはもう別に苦じゃない。
ところが、震災直後の１週間くらいは、
１日の見出しの数が3000とか4000とか‥‥。
糸井 はーー。
佐々木 膨大な量の記事が流れていく。
だから、ほとんど１日中、
ネットをチェックしてました。
それだけ見ると単なる変な人なんですけども（笑）。
行き交う膨大な情報のなかで、
いったいなにが信用できるのかって、
やっぱり、わからないと思うんですね。
たとえばマスコミの言ってることは信用できるのか。
たいていは信用できますけれど、
信用できないものもたくさんあります。
でも、その当時は、
「マスコミの言っていることは信用できないけど、
ネットでは真実が流れてる」
みたいに思ってる人がたくさんいて。
糸井 そういう幻想はありますよね。
佐々木 すごく強い幻想なんですよね。
でも、フタ開けてみると、ぜんぜんそうじゃない。
で、一方で、ものすごいデマも流れている。
けっきょく、あの時期は、
自分の信じたいものしか信じない人がたくさんいて、
そういう状況のなかでは、
とにかく信頼できる情報源をフォローすることが、
たぶん、とても大切なことだろうと。
で、自分が信頼できる情報源に
なれるかどうかわからないけれど、
自分のいままでのメディアでの経験を活かして、
このぐらいは信頼できるだろうなっていう
最低限の情報はたぶん探せるはずだと思って、
毎日、時間が空けばチェックして
１日50本くらい紹介してましたね。
糸井 ぼくもやっぱり震災直後には混乱があって、
なかば中毒的にぜんぶの情報を追ってしまう。
佐々木 はい。
糸井 ５月くらいに我に返って、
がくっと減らしたりしたんですけれども、
やっぱり、両方があるんですよね、ネット上には。
すごく便利なことと、混乱を呼ぶものと。
佐々木 そうですね。
糸井 理解もあるし、無理解もある。
たくさんの人とつながるよろこびもある一方で、
いらだつようなこともあるし。
佐々木 けっきょく、ネットの世界って
ものすごく両極端なんですよね。
2007年くらいに「Web2.0」という
ことばがブームになって、
世の中がネットによってフラットになり、
誰もが個人で情報を発信できるバラ色の時代が来た、
みたいなことが大真面目に語られていた。
ただ、あの頃からすでにノイズはあって、
たとえばブログで、ちょっとナーバスなことを書くと
炎上するというようなケースがたくさんあった。
糸井 はい。
佐々木 だから、同じインターネットを語ってるはずなのに、
一方では、これからはバラ色だって言ってる人がいて、
一方では、もう世の中、ダメになる、終わりだ、
って言ってる人も、たくさんいる。
で、その中間がぜんぜんないわけですよ。
糸井 中間がないというか、
両極端な部分ばかりを見ている人が、
そこだけを語ってるんですよね。
佐々木 そうなんですよね。
で、ぼく自身も、「Web2.0」のころは、
「世の中変わります」みたいなことを
糸井 読みましたよ、ぼくも（笑）。
佐々木 一方で、炎上するケースを身近に見たりして、
折り合いがついてなかったんですよね、実際は。
だから、いずれ、もう少し時代が進めば、
そういうのは解決するんじゃないか？
っていうような、ほんとに、
何の根拠もない希望的観測を持っていたり。
糸井 はいはいはい。
だから、その、ぼくは、
そのときの佐々木さんの
ファンではなかったもん（笑）。
佐々木 ああー（笑）。
糸井 佐々木さんの書いていることを読んで、
なるほどなぁ、と思いつつも、
その「折り合いがついてない感じ」は
やっぱり伝わってくるわけで。
佐々木 そうですよね。

実際の炎上や無理解もあるネットの世界と、
佐々木さんのなかで折り合いがついてきたのは、
いつぐらいからなんですか。
佐々木 やはり、ここ数年のことですね。
変化の理由のひとつは、
2007年からいままでのあいだに、
自分自身で、相当、考えたということ。
と同時に、インターネットの世界が
ものすごく進化したというのがあるんですね。
進化したっていうのは、
べつに人間が進化したわけじゃなくて
アーキテクチャーですよね。
技術とサービスがものすごく進化した。
糸井 あー、なるほど。
佐々木 そのネットの進化によって、
いろんなことが可視化した
というのが大きいんじゃないかなと。
たとえば、ブログの時代っていうのは
ブログを書いて、それが批判されるとすると
よくわかんない批判をされてたわけですよ。
まず、誰から批判されてるのかわかんない。
コメント欄に、だーっと何十個も批判が並ぶ。
糸井 匿名の人たちから。
佐々木 それが誰なのかよくわからない。
トラックバックみたいなかたちで
他のブログからの批判もくる。
それを書いてる人たちは、
いちおうはブロガーとして存在するんだけど、
なんとなく、顔が見えない。
糸井 わかります。
架空の人格である場合が多いんですよね。
佐々木 そうなんです。
匿名だからっていうだけの話じゃなくて、
なんとなく、キャラクターが
はっきりしていない感じっていうのがあって、
すごくとらえにくかったんです。
というなかで、やっぱりいちばん大きかったのは
2009年ぐらいにツイッターが出てきたことで。
糸井 はい。
佐々木 ツイッターって、ものすごく、
あるひとりの発信者が、
はっきりするメディアなんですね。
実名なのか匿名なのかとは関係なしに
その人がどんな人で、どんな雰囲気で‥‥。
糸井 なに言ってきたかが、わかる。
佐々木 そう、過去に何を言ってきたかが
すごくクリアに見える。
糸井 ブログだってさかのぼって読めるんですけど、
にじみ出る人格のようなものが
ツイッターには
ものすごくはっきりとあるんですよね。
佐々木 そうなんです。
だから、いまは批判されても、
批判してる人がどんな人なのかっていうのが
ある程度はわかるようになった。
これがひとつ大きなことです。
あと、ブログでの炎上というのは、
ひとたび批判が集まると、
それに対する反対意見というのは
すごく言いづらかったんですね。
つまり、うわーっと批判しているときの
空気の圧力のようなものがものすごいわけです。
糸井 ああーー。
佐々木 もう、全員が批判しているように見えるので、
そうでもないんじゃないかなって思う人がいても
それは、その場には、やっぱり書き込めない。
糸井 そうか、つまり、
酔っぱらいだらけの飲み屋に入っていく、
みたいになっちゃうんですね。
佐々木 そうそうそう（笑）。
でも、じつは、その飲み屋の外側には、
ふつうのしらふの人たちがたくさんいる。

糸井 よくわかる、よくわかる（笑）。
佐々木 でも、しょうがないんですよ、怖いから。
店のなかに入った瞬間に、
もう、わーっとかなってるから
じゃあとりあえず俺もビール１杯飲んで（笑）。
糸井 ねぇ（笑）。
黙って飲んで酔っぱらって、
静かな客として帰ろうみたいな。
佐々木 でも、サイレントマジョリティーって、
その外側にいるわけです。
そこでの言論というのは、
いわば円環を成しているんですね。
中心に批判されている人がいて、
それを批判している人たちが取り囲んでいて、
彼らは自分たちこそが
一般の声だと思っているけど、
さらにその外側をたくさんの
サイレントマジョリティーが取り囲んでいる。
糸井 そうですね。
佐々木 インターネットって、
どんなに冷静に語り続けても、
自分が第三者にはなれないんです。
なにか言った瞬間に批判の対象になるわけだから、
巻き込まれるんですよ。
だから、いくら絶対的な正義を
語ってるつもりになってもムリなんです。
‥‥ということを、ブログの時代に、
多くの批判に対して言ってみても
まぁ、ほとんど焼け石に水というか、
糸井 うん、うん、うん。
佐々木 ところが、この状況が、
ツイッターが出てきてすごく変わった。
もちろん批判は相変わらずあるんですけど、
それと同時に「いや、私は賛同します」
っていう声もバーッと現れるんですね。

その姿勢が表せたりする。

糸井 ぼくは、震災のあとに
佐々木さんが情報のキュレーションをしてるときに
とんとん、といくつかリツイートしたんですけど、
まずはそれで賛同だっていうことですよね。
ひとつひとつの論争に「そうだそうだ」って
言うこともできるんですけど、
けっきょく、そこに時間を取られるのがいやなので、
リツイートひとつで
全体的な賛同として表してしまう。
あるいは、その人のフォロワーとして、
ずっと見ているってことだって賛同の表現ですよね。
佐々木さんが言ったことについて
さらにうまく展開している人のことを
またリツイートすることだってできるし、
もう、こう、なんていうんだろう、

個別の議論に入りこんじゃうと、
どんどんどんどん狭いとこに行ってしまうから。

自分にできることはなんだろうって
考えたんですけど、
やっぱりなかなか思いつかないわけです。
でも、ぼくは「社長」っていう立場でもあるので、
社員と、社員の家族のことまで含めて
自分の責任のことを考えると、
黙ってるわけにはいかないっていうのがあって。
佐々木 ああ、そうですよね。
糸井 そのあたりのことは、
『できることをしよう。』という本の
インタビューのときにも答えているんですが、
まず、できないことを言うのはやめようと思った。
なんてことをやれるような
スペシャリストじゃないぞ俺は、と。
医者でもないし、道もないところに
駆けつけたからってなんにもできないし。
だからといって、
どこどこに孤立した人がいます
っていうのをリツイートし合って、
救援部隊の数が限られているときに、
危ないぞ、危ないぞって、
でかい声だしてるのも怖いなと。
佐々木 はい。
お金についての提案でした。寄付ですね。
どう考えてもお金は必要になるし、
この規模は、ちょっとのお金じゃないってことを
みんな、わかろうよ、って言ったんですね。
佐々木 なるほど。
糸井 で、あとは逃げる人、逃げない人、
ぜんぶの選択をそれぞれに尊重しよう、
っていうこともいいました。
ようするに、アイデアではなく、
ふつうに考えられることだけを
言ったつもりだったんですね。
それを言い続けることで、
最初のひと月はもたせましたね。
佐々木 もたせたっていうのは、
糸井さん自身の気持ちを？
糸井 自分の当事者意識をもたせた。
佐々木 ああ、なるほど。
糸井 でも、その、自分の範囲で
言えることだけを言い続けるっていうのは
けっこう簡単じゃなかったですね。
というのは、いろんな情報に目を通していると、
役に立てそうなことがいっぱいあるんで。
佐々木 わかります。
糸井 そういうことも含めて、
やっぱり混乱があったんだと思う。
佐々木 実際、あのころは、
自分の範囲の外にある
たいへんなことを言うだけ言って、
なんとなく気持ちよくなっちゃってる、
みたいな人をすごく目にしましたよね。
糸井 はい。
佐々木 ひとつ、覚えているのは、
「日本ユニバ」というＮＰＯがあって、
震災１週間後くらいのときに、
孤立被災地の支援活動をしていたんです。
みたいな情報がどんどん流れてきた。
ところがそのころは、
その手の情報がたくさんあって
真偽がわからないんですね。
ほんとのこともあるし、デマだったりもするし、
情報が流れた瞬間は孤立してたけど
いまはとっくに解消している、なんてこともあって、
もう、なにがほんとだか、わからないわけです
。
糸井 生きて動いてるんですよね、状況がね。
佐々木 そうなんです。
そのあたりの区別がつかない。
だから、日本ユニバからの情報をリツイートすると、
そんな話は聞いたことがない、デマでしょう、
みたいなことを言われたりする。
それで、しょうがないから、
日本ユニバに直接電話してみたら、
「いや、デマじゃありません」と。
実際にヘリで行って確認した情報だって言うんです。
そのあと、千代田区にある
日本ユニバの事務所に直接行って取材すると、
彼らがやってることはすごくリアルで、
実際にツイッター上で飛び交ってる
「どこどこが孤立してます」っていう情報に対して
電話を入れたりして、ぜんぶ確認してるんです。
糸井 はぁー。
佐々木 で、実際に問い合わせてみると、
まぁ、90パーセントがデマだと。
でも、こことここはほんとうに孤立している、
みたいなこともわかるわけです。
つまり、ネットやツイッターで
ぐるぐるぐるぐる情報を回しているよりも
わかることがたくさんある。
糸井 うん。
佐々木 逆にいうと、
何万人もがツイッターで情報を回してるわりに、
電話でたしかめるようなことは
誰もしてなかったりするんですよ。
糸井 はいはいはい。
佐々木 そのＮＰＯは実際に電話入れて確認してる。
なるほど、こういうものがリアルな力なのか
っていうのを、すごく実感したんです。
糸井 実行できるキャパシティが限られているときに、
大きな動機がどれだけ拡散しても
意味がないんですよね。
やっぱり、非常時には、実行のところで
どれだけ参画できるかっていうのが重要で。
佐々木 そうなんです。
とくに、震災の後は、
被災地と東京の温度差がすごくあって、
「なんかやんなきゃ」っていう気持ちが
東京ですごく盛り上がって、
たとえばウェブの業界では
被災地に物資を送るプロジェクトとか、
避難している人たちに家を貸してあげる
ハウスシェアリングのサービスとかが
たくさん立ち上がったんですけど、
実際に聞いてみると被災地では
ほとんど利用されていない。
なぜかというと、そういうサービスが
対象としている人たちが高齢者だったり、
避難所にパソコンがなかったりして、
東京でみんなが盛り上がっていることが
まったくつながってなかったんです。
糸井 いまもそういう傾向があるんですけど、
インターネットにつながってないっていう人口を
インターネットの人たちは、
わりとなめてるんですよね。
佐々木 そうなんですよね。
やっぱり、ネットって、すばらしい空間なので、
そのなかで完結しちゃってるから、
その外側を、いまひとつイメージしきれない。
糸井 そういうことなんですね。
当たり前のことなんですけど、
ネットがなくても成立している場所が
もともとあったわけだし、
それはいまもあるんです。
佐々木 はい。
糸井 その想像力が要求されるんですよね。
そういうことは、
ぼくも現場に立ったときに思い知りました。
三陸新報とか河北新報とか、
現地の新聞をつくっている方に
お会いして話を聞くと、
それこそ「たずねびと」が
新聞のいちばん重要な使命だったりする。
佐々木 ああー、なるほど。
糸井 今日はどこどこで配給があります、とかね。
もう、当たり前にそういう情報が求められていて
そういう記事を新聞は載せている。
そのリアリティーみたいなものに対して、

いま、メディアに書かれていることばって
すごくおおまかにいうと、
本を読む人に伝わる文体っていうのと、
ふだん本を読まない人に伝わる文体と、
２種類あると思うんですね。
佐々木 ほう。
糸井 ぼくは、以前広告に関わっていたということも
影響してると思うんですけど、
「本を読むことが大好きで
ものを考えること自体の中に耽溺できる」
という人から、ちょっと距離を置いて
生きてきたつもりなんですよ。
そこにいたら、本を読む人どうしが
褒めあうものになってしまうなと。
佐々木 ああー、そうですよね。
狭い圏域のなかに留まってしまう。
糸井 そうなんです。
その圏域って、もう、
どんどんどんどん狭くなっているし、
ほんとうに世の中を動かしてる人っていうのは、
もっと違うところで、すばらしい知性を発揮してる。
たとえば、ファッションを
つくってる人の知性っていうのは、
佐々木 そうですね。
糸井 そういうものとも自由に
握手できるような文体っていうのがあって、
それを表現できることこそが、
そこで生きてるための
思考をつくるんだと思ってたんで、
そこをずーっと自分としては
鍛えてきたつもりだったんですね。
佐々木 あー、なるほど。
糸井 とくに、今度の震災以後っていうのは、
エリートの文体が通用しなくなった印象があります。
吉本隆明ふうに言うと、
比叡山の文体が通用しなくなった。
佐々木 なるほど。
糸井 逆に、ふつうの人が受け入れないからこそ、
その場所に逃げ込む人も出てきたし。
佐々木 ああー、そうですよね、
アカデミズムに閉じこもるというか。
糸井 そうです、そうです。
佐々木 文体の移り変わりというのは
ぼくも実感したことがあります。
ぼくは、もともと新聞記者出身なので、
古いジャーナリズムの世界で
仕事をしてきたんですけど、
みんながブログとか書くようになった
2005、6年ぐらいからかな？
そこで書かれてることばに
最初、すごく違和感があって。
やっぱり、新聞とか、
旧来の雑誌ジャーナリズムにおける文章と、
ぜんぜん違うんですよね。
糸井 ああー。
佐々木 だから、2006年ごろ、
雑誌の仕事とネットの仕事の
両方をやっていたときは、
それぞれをすごく意識的に書き分けてました。
糸井 なるほど、なるほど。
佐々木 そうしないと、読まれないなという実感があって。
ネットの世界で新聞や雑誌の原稿を書くと、
すごく違和感があるんです。
逆に、新聞や雑誌というメディアに
ネットの原稿を書いても受け入れられない。
それは、何が違うのかっていうと、
いま糸井さんがおっしゃった閉鎖性なのかなと。
新聞とか雑誌とか、
ある種のアカデミズムを持つ文章って、
なんか、閉じた小宇宙、みたいなところがあって。
糸井 そうなんですよ。
佐々木 ひとつひとつが完結していて、
そのまわりをピカピカに磨いて
「できましたよ」っていう感じなんですよね。
だから、完成されてはいるんだけど、
広がりもないし、すごく箱庭的になってしまう。
糸井 それはやっぱり、共通の理解があることを
前提としたところでの会話だから。
佐々木 現代思想とかそうですよね。
糸井 そうそう。
「当然知ってると思いますが‥‥」
みたいなところが前提にある。
でも、実際の世の中は、ぼくも含めて
「そんなの知りません」っていう
人ばっかりが歩いているわけで。
佐々木 ネットは、そこはぜんぜん違いますね。
いってみれば、ネットにあることばって、
途中経過なんですよね。
糸井 ああー。
佐々木 たとえば本、書籍って、これまでは
典型的なひとつの小宇宙だったんだけど、
たぶん、100年後の書籍っていうのは、
おそらく、もっとソーシャルなものに
なっていくと思うんです。
つまり、人とやり取りをしていくこと自体が、
だんだんとなにかの物語を編んでいくような、
そういう世界をつくっていくんじゃないのかなと。
糸井 うん、うん。
佐々木 ブログでも、ツイッターでも、
フェイスブックでもそうなんですけど、
ソーシャルの世界のなかで
なにかについて書くということは、
そこでそれについてほかの人と
やり取りしていくということなんですね。
そうすると、いま書いているこれを読む人が
どういう反応をするだろうか？
っていうのを考えながら書く、
という文体になっていくんですよ。
糸井 そうですね。
それって、つまり、
「話体」なんですよね、近いのは。
佐々木 そうなんですよ。
書籍って、いままでは印刷物だったけど、
徐々にデジタル配信になっていきます。
印刷物というのはグーテンベルク以前は
写本だったわけで、それ以前はというと、
紀元前3000年くらいまでは
「口承」だったわけですよね。
糸井 そうですね。
佐々木 オーラルリテラリー（口承文学）。
あの時代に戻る可能性があるわけです。
糸井 うん。
佐々木 あのころの時代というのは、
ある種、人々の集合的無意識みたいなものが
会話のかたちで編まれて、
気がついたら、ひとつの物語になっていた。
じつはホメロスが書いたんじゃなくて、
そういう集合的無意識の編み出した物語が
文字になったんじゃないかなと思うんです。
ああいった世界に、
われわれの文字文化、物語の文化は、
戻る可能性があるんじゃないかと。
だから、いま糸井さんがおっしゃったような
文体の変化というのは、単なる流行ではなくて、
ものすごく大きなパラダイム転換の
最初の一歩かもしれないと思うときがあるんです。
糸井 だとすれば、これまでは、
その助走をずーっとやってきた気もするんです。
ぼく自身、ある部分ではそれを意識して、
ある部分では無意識でその転換をやってきて、
それが今回の震災があったことで、
古い意味での本を読む人たちの文体と
「そんなの知らないよ」っていう人たちの溝が
ほんとに現実的になったと思った。
佐々木 そうですよね。
糸井 その文体では通じないんだと
いくら言ってもダメでしょうし。
その、グーテンベルク以降っていう言い方をすれば、
一部のエリートが文字文化として培った「知」を
印刷物として広めたことによって
「知」は大衆化したかに思えるけれど、
そこで大衆に受け継がれた「知」っていうのは
じつはほんの一部分なんですよね。
すばらしいダンサーのステップという「知」や、
アスリートの走りという「知」のかたちもある。
そういうふうにね、
大きな「知」のかたまりを考えるなら、
口先とか文字の表現の達者な、
長く続きすぎたのかもしれない。
佐々木 そうかもしれないですね。
糸井 自分もそうかもしれないけど（笑）。
だから、かつての自己の否定の意味を
そうとう含めながら、
それをまたこうやってしゃべっていく。

リアリティーを失っていった理由について、
震災をきっかけに、
ひとつわかったことがあって。
佐々木 はい。
糸井 たとえば、ある本があって、
そこから読み取るべき、
ほんとうに大事なことっていうのは、
じつは５行で済むのかもしれないんですね。
佐々木 ああ、はい。
糸井 重要なのは、たったの５行で、
この５行が身に染みてわかってたら、
1500円払う価値がある。
佐々木 うん、うん。
糸井 その重要な５行のすばらしい思いつきを、
あるいは、凝縮した思考の結果を、
こうやって、絵とか、表紙とか、前書きとか、
たとえ話でパッキングして、
値段がつきやすい形にして厚くしたのが
「本」だっていうふうにも言えるんです。
佐々木 うーん、そうですね。
糸井 つまり、大事なのは５行なんだけど、
「５行じゃ商売になんないんだよ」
っていうことなんですね。
商品としての売り都合で、
「大事な５行だけ」っていうかたちは
ちょっと困るわけです。
それが、これまでぼくらが生きてきた
資本主義社会のルールだったんですが、
震災のように、
とにかく実行力が必要とされる場では、
そういう売り手の都合って
ちっとも手助けにならないわけです。
つまり、５行とか６行で伝わることなら、
1500円の商品にするために
パッケージをつくったり
時間をかけたりするのは意味がない。
佐々木 そうですよね。
糸井 その５行とか６行がほんとに伝わったら、
ここでこの人たちが助かるとか、
物事がうまく回るとかだったら、
利益やお金を生まなくっても、
人は自分の仕事として納得できるんですよ。
佐々木 そのとおりですね。
お金は、まぁ、どっかで生まれればいい。
糸井 そう。ものごとを維持して
回して行くための最低限のお金が、
ときどきどっかで挿まれればいいんです。
佐々木 実際、ぼくの最近の仕事は、
そうなってきています。
いままでは、ジャーナリストがいて、
向こう側に読者がいて、書いたものを、
あるいは、雑誌というチャネルをつかって売る。
というあたりがメインだったんですね。
ところが雑誌はいまほとんど衰退していて、
連載なんかも最盛期は10本くらいあったものが
いまはもう、１、２本しかない。
糸井 え、佐々木さんがですか？
佐々木 そうです（笑）。
すごい減り方なんです。
それも、連載が終わったんじゃなく、
雑誌自体がほとんど休刊になっちゃったんです。
糸井 すごいですねぇ。
佐々木 そうなんです。
で、本もそんなに爆発的に売れる状況でもない。
っていうなかで考えると、
パッケージを売るということよりも
自分と読者がつながることのほうが大事。
糸井 まったくそのとおりです。
佐々木 だから、それこそ、
ツイッターでキュレーションしてるのは、
まったくの無償行為ですけど、
まぁ、それで自分に対して興味を持ったり
リスペクトしてくれる人が
増えればいいなぁっていうことですよね。
同じように、メルマガもやり、
フェイスブックとかもやり、
グーグルプラスで議論し、
さらには、連載もやって、本も書いて、
ありとあらゆる方法で読者とつながる、と。
だから、やっぱり大事なのは、
300ページの本を書いて、
実はこの５行しかいらないなと思ったら、
残りは捨ててですね、
その５行だけツイッターで伝えて‥‥。
糸井 しっかりと渡せればいいんですよね。
佐々木 いいんですよね。
そのかわり、すぐにお金にはならないけど、
他で、どっかで、なにかで
払ってもらうこともあるから、
その機会がきたらよろしく、みたいな。
糸井 うん、そうですね。
佐々木 そういうふうに考えると、
ツイッターとかフェイスブックに代表されるような
いわゆる「ソーシャル」っていうのは、
情報流通の手段としてのチャネルではなくて、
ひとつのレイヤー（層）だと思うんです。
だから、ソーシャルは、
既存のメディアに取って代わるんじゃなくて、
すべてのメディアに入り込んでいく可能性がある。
糸井 なるほど。
佐々木 これまでのメディアというのは、
チャネル的にとらえられていて、
こっちから向こう側に情報を流して、
そこにお金が発生するようなものだった。
でもいまはそういうチャネルの扱い方よりも、
人と人とがなにかでつながっている
ということ自体のほうが重要になってきている。
糸井 まったくそうだと思う。
だから、たぶん、佐々木さんもぼくも、
昔よりいまのほうが忙しいんですよね。
佐々木 そうですね（笑）。
糸井 込めなければならない
ほんとうの情報量が多いですから。
佐々木 それぞれの関係性も、
流動的になったと思うんですよ。
糸井 うん、うん。
あるいは、社長がいて、取引先があって、
お客さんがいてっていう
関係性がすごく固定されていて、
それ以上の関係じゃなかったわけですよね。
糸井 うん。
佐々木 そういう固定された関係性においては、
ものや情報が一定の方向に流れるなかで、
とにかくお金を稼ぐことが優先される。
だから、当然、取引先からは、
ちゃんとお金をもらいますよと。
読者からは、書籍代をいただきますよ
っていうことでやるしかなかった。
でもいまって、それぞれの関係や役割が
どんどん組み変わっていくわけですね。
価値や情報がいろんなところから生まれて、
新しい関係性ができて、
それがまた新しいビジネスになったりしていく。
だから、いま目の前にある関係性に依拠して、
そこでお金を稼がなくても、
もう構わないっていう。
糸井 そうですね。
佐々木 これはね、ある意味で、
ものすごく気持ちのいい空間が出てきてる
という感じがするんです。
糸井 その構造があるうえで、震災という、
生きるということを突きつけられるような
生々しいことが起こったから、
なおさら、信頼とか、友情とか、
ひと昔前だったら照れくさいようなことばが
ほんとに大事なこととして
佐々木 そうですよね。
いま、みんな当たり前に言ってる。
糸井 言ってますよね。
もう、「信用はお金で買えない」とか、
手垢のつきまくったような、
昔っからあることばにたどりついたり。
佐々木 （笑）
糸井 で、そういう経緯を実感とともにたどると、
なぜ昔の人がそう言ったかっていうことも、
想像ができるようになってくるんです。
やっぱり、これまでは、効率とか、能率とか、
機能だけでものを語ってた時代と、
さっき言ったような、
上滑りしたことばでパッケージした商品とが
重なり合って存在していたから。
だから、いまは、真っ裸になったときの価値が
ほんとに問われるようになったと。
佐々木 そうですね。だから、
生（なま）と生（なま）の人間関係みたいなものが
もう一度確認されるというか、
求められるっていうのは
当然のことなんじゃないのかな。
糸井 うん。

震災が起こる前っていうのは、
じつは世の中にいろんな行き詰まりがあって。
佐々木 そうですね。
この閉塞的状況が打破されるべきだって
言われ続けながら、ちっとも糸口がないような。
糸井 ええ。でもいまは、
それを悶々と探しているような状況では
なくなりましたからね。
その、いま覚醒して動いてないと、
友だちの助けにもならないじゃないかっていう。
佐々木 そうですね。
糸井 ひとつ例をあげると、
ぼくのような中小企業の社長は、
なんのためにその会社があるのかっていうことを
ずーっと問われ続けるわけです。
つまり、会社には目的があるはずだと。
佐々木 ああ、なるほど。
糸井 それはもう、うっすらとした強迫観念のように
ぼくのなかにあったんです。
で、いつかそれがスパッと言えるように
なったらいいなと思ったんだけど、
でもね、ああいう大きな震災があると、
会社の目的をどういうふうに
説明するかなんてことよりも、
とにかくなんかの役に立ちたいとかね、
困ってる誰かを助けたいとか。
佐々木 そうですよね。
糸井 で、自分たちは助けながらも、
疲弊するんじゃなくて、
きちんと笑いながら過ごしたい、
っていう気持ちがあって。
なんなら、
「あの会社は、震災で焼け太りした」って
言われるくらいになりたいって
よく言ってるんです。
佐々木 （笑）
糸井 そのためにアイデアを出したり、
新しい価値を増やしたりしていきたい。
もちろん震災があってよかったなんて
言わないですけど、それがあって、
いまの真剣で現実的な当事者意識が
生まれていることは、たぶん間違いがなくて。
佐々木 そうですね。ぼくも去年までは
いまの状況を変えなきゃいけない、
脱却しないけないとは言っていたものの、
つねに「アンチ何々」っていう視点だったんです。
糸井 あー、なるほど。
佐々木 否定するところから出発するっていう、
そういうところから
逃れられなかった感じするんですけど、
いまは、なんていうか、
問題のある古いシステムや、
もう壊れかかっているようなものを、
「壊そう！」って話をいまさらしなくても
これからどうやって
我々の社会をつくっていくのかっていう
建設のほうに気持ちは完全に動いている。
糸井 まったくそうですね。
どっちが正しいかっていう
議論してる時間があったら、
あなたがいいと思ったことを、
予算30円でもいいからはじめてごらんっていう。
佐々木 そうですよね。
糸井 そういうふうに動きやすくなってますよね。
たとえば、このほぼ日刊イトイ新聞っていうのは
もう13年やっていて、
ゲストとして出てくれる人も、
タダで来てくれる人しか呼ばないんです。
だから、佐々木さんのように
フリーでやってる人を呼ぶっていうのは、
初期のころ、ちょっと遠慮してたんです。
なぜかというと、どこかに出て
考えを表現するっていうことが仕事の人を
だから、「いいよ、行くよ」って言って
好きで来てくれる人だけを相手にしていて、
企業の社長とかがよく登場するのは
そういう理由なんですよ。
佐々木 ああ、なるほど。
糸井 で、このごろは、フリーの方にも
声がかけやすくなってきた。
それは、予算とか規模とか条件みたいなことを
いろいろ言わずに「やろうよ」って
言ってくださる人が増えたからです。
その雛形が、すでに東北には
あちこちで生まれてるじゃないですか。
佐々木 自然にそうなってる感じですよね。
「ビオトープ」っていう言い方があるんですけど、
そういう生態系みたいなものが
どんどんどんどん増えていって、
社会全体を構成するように
なっていくんじゃないかと。
そこでそれぞれの関係をつくってる人たちは、
いままでのように単に情報を受容してるだけの
消費者じゃなくて、仲間なんですよね。
糸井 うん、そうですね。
佐々木 個々に、当事者意識を持って、
自分たちが好きなものとつながる、っていう。
そういう、小さな当事者がたくさん集まって、
大きな社会につながっていく感覚が
いますごく出てきている気がして。
そういう「中間共同体」について考えるのが
最近のテーマのひとつなんですよ。
糸井 「中間共同体」。
佐々木 わかりやすくというと、日本という国で、
「日本」と「私」という関係だけだと、
社会がつながらないんですよ。
それだとあまりにも遠すぎるんです。
だから、そのあいだにワンクッション必要で、
それが中間共同体とか
コミュニティって言われるもの。
わかりやすい例でいうと、かつての農村ですよね。
糸井 ああー。
佐々木 日本っていうのはむしろどうでもよくて、
俺はこの村の住人で、村の寄り合いに出て、
この村のなかでこう働いてるぞ、
みたいな感じだったわけです。
でもそれが、太平洋戦争が終わって、
農地解放されて、
農村からどんどん若者が出てきて、
農村が空洞化していくと。
そのときに都市部にみんな出てきて、
行き着く場所がなくて
困ってるときに出会ったのが、
企業という中間共同体だったんですね。
糸井 うん、そうですね。
佐々木 あるいは宗教だったり、政党だったり、
学校だったり、ある種の主義だったり。
とにかく、自分が日本という社会に
直接対面するのではなくて、
そのあいだにワンクッション、
仲間意識を持てる空間が必要なんですけど、
いま、それらがどんどん壊れて
リアリティーを持てなくなってるんですよ。
糸井 ああー。
佐々木 で、実はインターネットみたいなものが、
それを代替できるんじゃないのかっていうことを
ずーっと考えてるんですけど、
一方で、インターネットなんて、
実際のセーフティーネットには
ならないじゃないかという気もする。
というのも、本来の中間共同体というのは、
身体をこわしたり、親族が死んだりしたときに
頼ることができるような存在であって。
糸井 インターネットでのつながりには、
そういう「実」がないんですね。
佐々木 そうなんです。
ただ、深い情報でつながってると、
強い共鳴が起こりますから、
なんらかの社会的なクッションには
なるかもしれない。
糸井 自分の経験からいうと、
1000人っていう単位になれば飯が食えるんですよ。
佐々木 ああ、そうですか。
糸井 つまり、1000人の町があったら、
そこでいちおう、金物屋をやっても、
レストランやっても、お客は来る。
佐々木 そうですね。
糸井 たとえば、
アフリカの音楽が好きな人たちの集まり、
みたいなものがあるとしても、
1000人の規模になればなにかができるんですよ。
それをメシのタネにする人もいるだろうし、
そこで消費することをたのしむ人もいる。
佐々木 『キュレーションの時代』で
書ききれなかったことなんですけど、
キュレーターがきちんと機能すると、
その周辺に小さなビオトープができるんですよ。
でも、それをきちんと把握するのが難しい。
だから、糸井さんの言う「1000人の集まり」が
潜在的にはできていたとしても、
見つけて、はっきりとつなげるのは、
なかなかできない場合が多いんです。
糸井 それはねぇ、おそらく、
言いだしっぺになる覚悟がないと
見つからないんですよ。
それもやっぱり、当事者意識ですね。
で、「俺が」があると、
「俺も『俺が』って思ってたんだよ」
って人と、つながれるんですよ。
佐々木 なるほど。

大きくて古いメディアの出身で、
そこから独立されて、いってみれば
情報発信の当事者じゃない状態から、
かなりの当事者になったわけですよね。
佐々木 そうですねぇ。
糸井 その大きなきっかけのひとつが
震災だと思うんですけど、
それ以前にもいくつか曲がり角が
あったんじゃないかと思うんですが。
佐々木 そうですね‥‥まず、大きかったのは、
ブログで批判されるという
糸井 あ、そうなんですか。
佐々木 ぼくは2005年くらいにブログをはじめたんですが、
2006年に、わりと名前の知られていたブロガーが
オウム真理教の在家信者だったということがあって、
その人のブログが大炎上したんですね。
でも、その人は、
信者だというのは間違いないけれど、
逮捕されたり起訴されたりしたわけでもなく、
犯罪に荷担してるんじゃないから
べつにいいじゃないかというスタンスでいたら、
じゃあ、なぜ彼はオウムに入信し、
社会とどうコミットしていたのか知りたいと思って
インタビューしてそれをブログに掲載したら
また、大炎上した。
それで、当時、ぼくはすごく腹を立てたんです。
というのも、1999年に毎日新聞を辞めて、
アスキーという出版社に2003年までいて、
そこから独立した２年後くらいですから、
自分がメディア側の人間だ
っていう意識がずーっとあったんですね。
だから、自負もプライドもあるし、
それこそ、文体も固いし。
そういうなかで読者だと思っている人たちから
突然批判されるっていうことが、
ものすごくショックだったんですね。
糸井 なるほど。
佐々木 それと、あと、もうひとつ、
それよりは小さな出来事なんですが、
ある雑誌でやった取材も
メディアについて考え直すきっかけになりました。
ある有名な原作をもとにした
ハリウッド映画があって、
その日本語字幕が変だって
原作のファンから批判されたんです。
ま、簡単にいうと、翻訳者は
一般のお客さんを意識して字幕を書いて、
コアなファンはそれを許せなかった。
それで、翻訳者を変えろっていう運動を起こして、
ウェブページをつくって、監督に直訴して‥‥
っていうことが起こったんです。
それをぼくが記事にすることになったので、
ウェブで反対運動をしている人にメールして、
取材させてくださいって言ったら、返事が来て、
対面や電話の取材は不可です。
メールでのやり取りならＯＫです」と。
いいですよ、って返したら、
「ただしメールでのやり取りについても、
一問一答すべて、ウェブの掲示板に
掲載させていただきます」
って言われたんですね。
糸井 うん。
佐々木 いまだとそんなに
めずらしいことじゃないと思うんですけど、
当時、そんなこと言ってる人は誰もいなくて、
こっちは、取材経過なんて見せないのが
常識だと思ってたから、
それを公表されるなんて、
すごく不快だったわけですよ。
糸井 あー、なるほど。
佐々木 基本的に新聞の記事って、
紙面に載ったものこそが完成品で、
それ以前にどんな取材をして
誰とどうやり取りしたかなんて、
一切出さないものでした。
それをすべて公にしろって言われて、
びっくりしたんですね。
取材が可視化されるっていうことが、
すごく衝撃的だったんです。
つまり、これまでのように、
新聞記事であるという特権を振りかざして、
ブラックボックスのなかで仕事するやる方は
もう、終わっていくだろうなと。
すべてのプロセスが丸裸にされて、
見えるようになる時代なんだなと。
糸井 つまり、最初の炎上の話も、いまの字幕の件も、
送り手と受け手の格差がなくなって、
フラットになったことのとまどいというか。
佐々木 そのとおりです。
だから、新聞記者が書いてたブログって、
ブログブームの初期によく炎上してたんです。
なぜかというと、
やっぱり、読み手を少し下に見ていて、
そこから反論が来ることを
素直に受け入れられなかったんですよ。
糸井 ああー。
佐々木 そういう事件が無数に起きて、
これはもう、いままでのような
メディアから発信する側と
それを受信するだけの関係っていうのは、
なくなったんだと如実に感じました。
‥‥そこからですね。
文体が変わっていき、取材のやり方も変わり、
発信のスタイルそのものも変わっていく。
糸井 その、新しい価値観とスタイルで
取材していこうって思ったとき、
ものすごく負荷がかかったでしょう？
佐々木 そうですよね。
糸井 でも、やろうと思ったんですね。
佐々木 やっぱり、ネットの世界で
信頼を得なきゃいけませんでしたから。
当時のインターネットの世界って、
いまよりもっと小さかったですからね。
そこで炎上ばかりしてるようだと、
執筆なんてできるわけない、と。
糸井 新人のような気持ちで。
佐々木 そうですね。
実際、その世界では新人でしたし、
当時は社会政治問題について、
インターネットで活動して言及する、
プロのジャーナリストなんて
ほとんどいなかったんですよ。
糸井 逆にいうと、そこで勝負するんだっていう
決意はよっぽどのことですよね。
やろうと思えば、もう少しゆるいところで
やれないことはないわけだから。
佐々木 そうですね。
でも、ネットをフィールドにするほうが、
圧倒的におもしろそうだったんです。
糸井 つまり、好奇心。
佐々木 そうですね。
ほかに誰もやってなかったし。
糸井 新聞社に戻るっていう道はなかったんですか。
佐々木 うーん‥‥戻りたくなかったですね。
糸井 ああ、そういうものですか。
佐々木 ええ。
あと、ぼく、新聞社を辞める
きっかけになったのって、病気なんです。
糸井 「病気」。
佐々木 そうなんです。
1998年に、忘れもしない、
小渕恵三さんが総理大臣になって、
７月の終わりかなんかに
自民党本部の９階の大会堂で、
小渕総裁誕生バンザイってやってるときに、
突然、耳が「ピーン」と鳴って
聞こえなくなってしまったんですね。
で、翌日病院に行ってＭＲＩを撮ったら、
ピンポン玉くらいの腫瘍が
頭の中にできてますって言われて。
放っとくとこれが大きくなって、
脳幹を圧迫して体が動かなくなりますって。
それで、１ヵ月ぐらい入院して、
頭開けて、耳の腫瘍を取って‥‥。
だからいまも片耳に聴力がないんですけど。
糸井 はーーー。
佐々木 けっきょく、３ヵ月ぐらい会社休んで、
呆然と日々を過ごし、そのあと、
暇な部署にちょっと移してもらってですね、
半年ぐらいぶらぶらしてたんですけど、
もう、どうしていいかわからない。
いままで、猛烈に忙しい記者をやっていて、
いきなり暇な部署に移って、
自分はこれからどうすればいいんだろうって、
いろいろ悩んだ挙げ句に
けっきょく辞めちゃったんです。
糸井 つまり、生物の進化戦略じゃないけど、
いられなくなった海から陸に上がったんですね。
弱い動物になった途端に、
次の進路が見つかるっていうパターン。
佐々木 そうかもしれない（笑）。
糸井 病気かぁ。
佐々木 病気なんですよ。
糸井 いや、どうも聞いてるとね、
単なる好奇心というだけではなくて、
もっと切実なものがないと、
やる気にならないだろうなと思って。
佐々木 そうですよね。
やっぱり、ずーっと10何年、
ほとんど事件記者でしたから、
いきなりそこから外れると
もう、途方に暮れてしまって。
糸井 はー、なるほどねー。

ネットでなにかを書くときっていうのは、
やっぱり、大きく違うんですよね。
佐々木 違いますね。
糸井 なにがどんなふうに違うんでしょう。
佐々木 やっぱり、余裕がないですから、
どうしてもネタになることが
優先されるんですね。
とにかく、ネタ、ネタって、
鵜飼いの鵜のように、
ネタを飲みこんでは、すぐに吐き出して。
本に厚みを出すのと同じ話ですね。
佐々木 そうなんです。
だから、もう目の前のものを
バッっとつかんで、バッと出す。
そのときに、すごく尊敬していた
先輩の事件記者から
こんなことを言われたことがあるんです。
新聞記者には２種類あって、
狩猟型と農耕型だと。
糸井 なるほど。
ダーッと取材に行って、
取材が終わったあとは草木も生えない
みたいな言い方をされて。
つまり、ネタは獲ってくるけど、
ぜんぜんフォローしてない。
糸井 （笑）
佐々木 一方、農耕型の記者っていうのは、
ネタ元とずーっとつき合って、
めったなことでは書かない。
その人に迷惑がかかると思ったら、
もう、書かずに墓場まで持って行く。
そういうなかで、書けるネタだけを、
ぽつんぽつんと書いていく。
まさに、畑に種を蒔いて育てて、
実ったらちょっとだけ収穫させてもらう。
これからはそういうことを
目指さなきゃダメだって言われて、
なるほどなとすごく思ったんですけど。
糸井 うん。
佐々木 やっぱり、いまつかんだネタを
バッっと出すんじゃなくて、
いかに自分のなかに
コンテクスト（文脈）みたいなものを
溜め込んでいけるか。
そういうことを意識しながら
書いてくことがすごく大事だなと。
新聞記者って、やっぱり専門性が薄くて、
今日は経済、明日は殺人、
翌日は海外テロっていうふうに、
どんどん取材して書いていくから、
どうしても、自分のなかに
コンテクストが残りづらいんです。
糸井 なるほど、なるほど。
佐々木 ただ取材能力の高い職人、
みたいなことになりがちなんです。
もちろん、職人に徹するのもいいんですけど、
自分の道はそこじゃないなと思ったので、
だったら、学生時代から詳しかった
ＩＴの分野で自分なりのコンテクストを培って
そのなかで仕事するっていう方向に
行けないかなって思ったんです。
糸井 その話、まったくはじめて聞いたんですが、
ものすごくおもしろいですね。
佐々木 ああ、そうですか。
ありがとうございます。
糸井 いや、そのくらいじゃないと。
ネットの中でなにか表現していくって、
徒手空拳じゃないですか、いわば。
佐々木 そうなんですよね。
糸井 その意味では全員平等なんだけど、
失うもののある人ほど
より、徒手空拳なんですよ。
というときに佐々木さんが
おやりになっていることっていうのは、
なんていうか、ある種の潔さというか、
貪欲さみたいなものがあって。
それは背景になにがあるんだろうって
思ってたんですけど。
佐々木 ああー。
それは、まぁ、どこかの段階で
なにかの覚悟を決めたというか。
糸井 覚悟ですね。
だから、でかい声出して
ヒステリックに言ってるだけの人には
その覚悟はやっぱり感じられないんですよ。
佐々木 ああ、わかる気がします。
糸井 その一方で、新聞記者の方でも、
ソーシャルななかでの表現が
自然にできてる方もいらっしゃいますよね。
佐々木 そう思います。
優秀な記者もすごく多いです。
ツイッターやフェイスブックが
今後、どういう扱いになるかはわかりませんけど、
いまは会社のガバナンス（統治）が
まともに機能してないので、
自由に表現できるという意味では、
とてもいい場になってるんじゃないですかね。
糸井 自分に問いかけるということの
実験や練習ができる場所として。
佐々木 そうですね。
糸井 新聞に限らず、
マスを相手にするメディアで
マス用の語り口を身につけた人が
自分として人生を送っていくっていうのは、
もうそれ自体が矛盾みたいに
なっちゃってますからね。
佐々木 そうですね。
だから、そこを変えられるがどうかが
この時代に生きていく
ジャーナリストにとっての
大きな壁じゃないかなっていう気はします。
とくに、ソーシャルな世界における
これからのジャーナリズムって、
ひとりの個人が発信するのではなくて、
コミュニケーションのなかで生まれる
ジャーナリズムだろうと思うので。
糸井 うん、そうですね
佐々木 そういう意味で
コミュニケーションを取ってるような感覚が
やっぱりすごく大事だと思いますよね。
ぼくがブログをはじめたころから
言われてたことではあるんですけど、
当時はなにを言ってるのか、
よくわかんなかったんですよ。
でも、いまになってみるとよくわかる。
糸井 つまり、５年かかるわけですよね。
佐々木 そうなんですよね。
いまの若い人だったら、
あっという間にできちゃうのかもしれない。
糸井 つまり、佐々木さんは、前の世界で
身につけていたものが大きかったから
それを削ぎ落とすのに
ちょっと時間がかかったというか。
佐々木 それはあると思います。
糸井 でもそれ10年掛かっても
そぎ落とせない人もいるし。
佐々木 うーん、そうですね。
糸井 仕事になりながら５年っていうのは、
やっぱりすばらしいと思うなぁ。
